FC Bayern – Manchester City betting tips
Is it time once again for a small, big miracle in top international soccer? In our Champions League tips, the last German team is threatened with elimination in the quarterfinals, it would have to make up an immense deficit.
FC Bayern suffered a 0:3 defeat at Manchester City last week, which can now hardly be corrected. The mood among players, fans and officials is tense, the performance must improve quite a bit tonight.
The Munich team’s strategy is clear: score a very quick goal and then continue to put the opponent under pressure. However, it should be clear to everyone what qualities the rivals from the island bring with them.
At Bwin, of course, they know about the big lead and know the rules: Even a victory with a two-goal lead would not be enough for FCB. Therefore, it is not surprising that the odds agree on average on a 2.70 to 2.45.
Why the Skyblues are also favored in the second leg, how the sensation could succeed and why I expect a relatively high-scoring match? All these questions I will now try to answer in my Bayern Manchester City tip!
The bookmaker forecast
If they can’t progress, then at least they want to celebrate their farewell from the CL with a win! However, our bettors do not quite give their trust to the home side, the odds come to a 2.70.
Of course, the bookies know that the air at Manchester City should be a little out, because a win is no longer mandatory. Due to the individual quality, however, the values still only go to a 2.45.
A draw, that there has never been between the Citizens and FC Bayern. With odds of 3.75, the draw is only slightly higher than the midfield range, so it does not seem quite unrealistic.
Analysis: Bayern vs Manchester City
A match of equals that showed FC Bayern the limits in the decisive moments! With 0:3 the German record champion lost last Tuesday at the Etihad Stadium, probably by one goal too high.
Serious individual errors and a dream goal by the opponent, it was not that the Munich team had no chance here. But now they would have to make up for a deficit that is actually far too large.
How often has it ever happened that a team has come back from a deficit of three or more goals in the knockout phase of the Champions League? No surprise: not often yet!
The following four teams have done it before: Deportivo La Coruna in 2004 against Milan, Barcelona in 2017 against Paris, Roma in 2018 against Barca and Liverpool four years ago, also against the Catalans.
What is striking here is that no English club has ever given away such a big lead. For Bayern, today’s second leg is also about presenting a conciliatory performance in front of their own fans, regardless of the result.
The team has only ever lost both knockout rounds twice before, both times (2014 and 2017) against fearful opponents Real Madrid. At least it sounds as if they will try everything again in the second leg.
Quote analysis
In fact, I’d take the risk and say Bayern grab the win! City still has goals in the league, plus Pep Guardiola is known for his teams only jumping as high as they have to. I would therefore not miss the odds of 2.75.
The tendency should be clear: The Munich team has to throw everything forward from the first minute, which creates spaces for the guests. I rate the chances for a 1:0 of the FCB high, because City can wait. The odds for this create a 1.95.
At Bet365, I also looked around for result bets. For me, a lively back and forth is quite likely, which is why I make use of the odds of 21.0 and bet on a 3:2!
ManCity vs Bundesliga top!
Speaking of Real Madrid, there are only three clubs in all of Europe, with a minimum of five direct duels, that have a win rate of more than 50 percent against Bayern Munich.
In addition to AC Milan and Real Madrid, Manchester City has also been one of them since last week. As nice as a positive result would be, Bayern should be aware that a real Bundesliga expert is now arriving.
As soon as the Skyblues meet a club from Germany in the premier league, it’s over with the restraint. Only one of the 19 matches has been lost, 16 won! In addition, eight wins and a draw in the knockout rounds are strong as a rock.
Everything has to be better for Bayern
The Bavarians, still without conceding an international goal at home this season, know what a chunk they are in for. Three times 2-0 and once 5-0, the results in their own stadium could not be better.
After the recent 1:1 against Hoffenheim, however, not every fan is optimistic that the CL face can now be shown again in the evening. Also not because a real center forward is missing in front.
Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting continues to be missing, which does not exactly promise that the third consecutive Champions League exit in the round of the best eight can somehow still be prevented.
At Bayern, then, the mood is tense, even the championship is not certain. The situation is, of course, completely different at Manchester City. Pep Guardiola returns to his old workplace, wants to maintain the lead.
The Spaniard is well known for sparing one or the other star in such results, and this could also happen in the Bavarian capital. Four points behind first place, but one more game to go?
The current state of the Premier League shows that City has almost closed the gap on Arsenal FC and still has a really good chance of winning the title. The top match against the Gunners is still in April!
It would be quite understandable if City would not play with their full squad. Although everything looks like a safe semi-final, there is at least one fact that speaks against a second win against Bayern.
City has played four times away from home this season, winning only the first match against Sevilla. 0:0 in Copenhagen and Dortmund, plus a 1:1 against RB Leipzig, offensively really only the absolute most necessary was done.
Erling Haaland is a particularly good example here. He scored seven times in the top flight, but only in the 4-0 win in Seville in the first game of the preliminary round. In return, however, he has missed just three away games in the Premier League.
My Bayern Man City tip:
Is it really hope or is it more perseverance slogans? FC Bayern knows very well that advancing will be almost impossible. Nevertheless, the players want to try everything, a quick goal must come in any case.
The Munich team’s style of play must be offensive as well as bold and self-confident. This, in turn, opens up some spaces for the guests, who bring fast personnel and are always capable of scoring a few goals.
Ultimately, I expect that we will see an entertaining match. If it is clear that the deficit will not be recovered, the concentration should also fade. In any case, my bet is as follows:
We’ll see more than 2.5 goals!
