SC Braga – Union Berlin betting tip

It was a dream that Union Berlin was allowed to live, but unfortunately it is now slowly coming to an end. The club’s steep rise is currently experiencing a major setback, and the club wants to fight its way out of the deep crisis in small steps.

First of all, they need to say a proper farewell to our UEFA Champions League tips. Group C wouldn’t even have been too difficult, but tremendous bad luck has already ruled out progression.

However, there is still a small chance of third place and thus a European winter. Berlin face SC Braga away on Wednesday and still have a score to settle, as everyone remembers the defeat despite leading 2-0

And although the capital city team are struggling in all competitions, our top bookmakers are not labeling them as having no chance! The odds for Wednesday are an average of 2.10 to 3.25.

In my Braga Union Berlin betting tip, I would now like to reveal why I can imagine a very close affair and why the home side are anything but brilliant. At the same time, I recommend the classic “Both teams score” bet, which Bet365 rewards us with odds of 1.61.

The bookmaker’s forecast

Braga are not exactly coming up trumps in the top flight either, which means that the Portuguese are the favorites in our bookmaker ranking with average odds of 2.10.

The visitors may be traveling as underdogs, but the odds, which have been set at an average of 3.25, still give the Irons every chance and do not ensure that a three-pointer is virtually impossible.

A draw would mean a setback in the battle for the Europa League, while at the same time Union would at least avoid defeat. If the points are actually shared on Wednesday, this would be rewarded with a 3.70.

Analysis: Braga vs Union Berlin

A lot has been written about Union Berlin in recent weeks and months, and the puzzling crash was naturally also a big topic among betting fans. Nobody really knew the answer to the question of how it could have happened.

The Irons were promoted to Bundesliga 1 just a few years ago, improved year on year and finished in a sensational fourth place in 2022/23, which meant: Champions League, against the best in the world!

Unfortunately, this current season is now destroying everything Union had built up. The deep crisis runs through all competitions and the many defeats have already led to the dismissal of former successful coach Urs Fischer.

After nine defeats in a row, they recently drew 1-1 against Augsburg in the league. The one point doesn’t help much at first glance, but at least there is once again the certainty that defeats can be avoided

Quota analysis

If I had to decide on a 1×2 bet, my priority would be a clear draw. Both teams are unsettled in Europe, and since the first leg was also very close, the relatively high odds could be worthwhile here.

Defensively, Braga really don’t cut the best figure, and the Irons no longer play to nil anyway. As a result, I expect a rather offensive match and have placed the bet “Over 2.5 goals” at odds of 1.75.

I’m even going for a result bet. The first meeting in the Olympic Stadium almost resulted in a 2:2 draw, which is exactly the result I now expect for Wednesday. At Bet365, courage is rewarded with odds of 12.0

Union want to get away from their unlucky image

The Bundesliga club’s performance in the Champions League was nothing short of woeful. First of all, Union set out to become probably the unluckiest team the competition has ever seen. They started with a 1-0 defeat at Real Madrid in the last second!

The first “home game” in CL history, which was kicked off in the neighboring Olympic Stadium, was against Braga. The Iron team got off to a perfect start, leading 2:0.

Unfortunately, they were not allowed to celebrate with the fans, as they actually let the lead slip, fell back into uncertainty and in the end it came as it had to: 2:3 with the last action of the game!

How big is the chance of the Europa League?

Even when the Italian champions arrived from Naples, Berlin did not lose hope at first. They put in another great performance, allowing just one shot on target. That one shot, you guessed it, made it 0:1.

A few weeks ago in Naples, they managed to pick up their first point in a 1-1 draw, a small success, even if Union are out of the competition. Braga have two points more in their account, so the Europa League is theoretically still possible.

It is therefore unfortunate that Sheraldo Becker is in danger of missing out on Wednesday, having already missed the game against FCA. Union will now face the Portuguese side for the fourth time in total

In the 2022/23 season, there had already been two encounters in the Europa League, both of which resulted in a 1-0 home win. Playing to nil in Europe? That would be something completely new for Braga.

Admittedly, it’s no disgrace not to be able to keep up with Real Madrid and Napoli, but the defensive impression of the team is not the best. At least the two home games have been very close and unfortunate.

They lost 2-1 to both Real and Napoli, while Braga had nothing to say in their most recent 3-0 defeat at the Bernabeu. Including the 3-2 win in Berlin, they have conceded at least two goals in every match

Interestingly, they have failed to score a single goal in the first ten rounds of the domestic league. In the most recent attempt of all, a 1-0 win against Arouca, they finally managed it.

All home games in the Primeira Liga have featured goals from both sides, which fits in perfectly with the picture we’ve seen in the Champions League in recent weeks

My tip:

Union Berlin would really like a conciliatory end to the season; it will take very small steps before the last few weeks and months are over. How about a positive result in Braga?

For me, the Portuguese are anything but unbeatable, especially because they allow far too much defensively. The Iron must try to put pressure on them right from the start and force the defense to make mistakes.

At the same time, however, I don’t think the visitors will be able to hold their own, as they are not yet confident enough to do so. That’s why I’ve decided to go for the following classic:Both teams score!
