Real Madrid – SSC Napoli betting tip

“Old love never rusts” seems to be the motto of the SSC board. The same board that gave Rudi Garcia the boot to sign Walter Mazzarri, a coach who led the club through a relatively successful period 10 years ago.

However, in my Real Madrid SSC Napoli prediction, it’s fair to ask whether the now 62-year-old might be a little rusty

This will be the first Champions League game to be officiated by Napoli manager Walter Mazzarri since he lost 4-1 to Chelsea in the last 16 in March 2012.

In fact, at 11 years and 260 days, it is the fifth longest gap between games for a manager in the competition’s history.

The fact that the “Azzurri” are going through a sensitive phase following the change of manager makes this matchday 5 even more difficult. Now they are also up against a truly fearsome opponent.

My Real Madrid SSC Napoli betting tip sheds light on why the passionate visiting fans shouldn’t be too ecstatic at the thought of booking tickets for the top match at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu

The bookmakers’ forecast

The Spaniards are already safely through, but every serious betting app still assigns them the clear favorite role on Wednesday. And that despite the fact that Victor Osimhen is fit again at the other end!

And rightly so, because what the “Azzurri” have shown recently doesn’t really have much in common with the fast-paced soccer of the 2022/23 season.

The betting odds for the match between Real Madrid and SSC Napoli therefore assign a value of around 1.86 to the home side, which is clearly outweighed by the away win odds of around 4.00.

Analysis: Real Madrid vs SSC Napoli

In the Spanish league, there was astonishment until the international break. It was hardly surprising that a Catalan club would be at the top of the table.

But the fact that it was Girona and not FC Barcelona was almost shocking!

Nevertheless, Real are in a good position to become champions, as they have won the majority of their league games so far and the season is still long (11 out of 14).

In the top flight, meanwhile, Carlo Ancellotti’s side have already booked their place in the round of 16 with four wins in four games so far

Napoli changed their coach during the international break. But be careful not to see last weekend’s 2:1 debut win over Atalanta as a potential liberating blow.

Napoli were actually very well served with a 1-1 draw before Bergamo keeper Carnesecchi made an unforgivable faux pas, which the Neapolitans were able to capitalize on immediately.

However, a significant improvement in performance will certainly be needed against Real, which I don’t believe the Neapolitans are capable of at the moment in their current form.

Especially as Real Madrid have never lost against Napoli in their five previous European encounters (4 wins, 1 draw)!

Odds analysis

Because Real Madrid are statistically almost 100% unbeatable for clubs south of the Alps, I am inclined to believe that “Los Blancos” could celebrate a one-nil victory on Wednesday at respectable odds of around 3.30.

Especially as the Spaniards have conceded just one goal in their last five home games in the top flight and Napoli are anything but fearsome at the moment.

Real Madrid Italy’s opponents to fear?

Real Madrid have won 15 of their last 16 Champions League games against teams from Bella Italia, including the last nine in a row.

This is the longest winning streak ever recorded in this competition for a team against Italian clubs and also Real Madrid’s longest winning streak against teams from any one country.

Furthermore, Real Madrid have also won eight of their last nine home matches in the top flight. This information should certainly make any SSC fan’s stomach churn

Napoli without the bite from 2022/23

The fact that a number of goals will be scored at the Bernabeu on Wednesday should not be seen as a foregone conclusion. After all, Napoli have lost a lot of ground compared to the previous season. It was not for nothing that Rudi Garcia had to pack his bags!

Last season, Napoli still scored an average of 2.6 goals per appearance in the top flight. This season, however, that rate has fallen to 1.5 goals per game and their completion rate has dropped from 14.9 to 8.7 percent.

Napoli have conceded five points from leading positions this Champions League season, with only Manchester United and Royal Antwerp having conceded more (6 in total).

Meanwhile, soccer analysts almost seem to want to give a goal guarantee in favor of the Spaniards.

Because teams managed by Carlo Ancelotti have scored in 43 consecutive Champions League home games, which is the longest run by a manager in the competition’s history.

The last time a team managed by Carlo Ancelotti failed to score at home in this competition was Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in the quarter-finals in April 2011.

My tip:

Walter Mazzarri celebrated an important 2-1 win over Atalanta 10 years after his return. Victor Osimhen was also able to rejoin the team.

Nevertheless, there are still too many loose ends to be tied up to beat a team of Real Madrid’s caliber at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.

Under Carlo Ancelotti, the Madrilenians are far too experienced and ripped off, which is why I think they will bag a narrow 1:0 or 2:0 victory.

My Real Madrid SSC Napoli betting tip is accordingly: Real win without conceding a goal
