Villarreal – Betis Sevilla betting tip, prediction & odds 12/15/2024

La Liga, Sunday, 15/12/2024 at 6:30 PM

It’s not exactly a top game when the fifth receives the eleventh – but somehow two very strong teams are playing against each other! In the Primera Division, my attention is now turning to Valencia.

There I take a close look at the yellow submarine and a guest who can do much more than he is currently showing. Or to put it another way: in my Villarreal Betis Sevilla tip, I’ll tell you why I expect a close game in which both teams will probably score!

Betis Sevilla have actually been part of Spain’s elite for years, one of those teams that end up somewhere between fourth and seventh place. Actually, because in 2024/25, based on their current performances, they would not be good enough at all.

The Andalusians have plummeted to eleventh place and have not won in five games. Okay, the recent 2-2 draw against Barcelona may have been commendable, but shortly before that, they were beaten 4-2 by Valencia, who were bottom of the league at the time.

Only five wins in total, and all of them very close. Two 1-0 wins, two 2-1 victories and one 2-0 win, with the second goal in the “clear” win coming from a counterattack shortly before the final whistle.

I can also see a clear difference in how the matches have been played. Four of them were won at home – but on Sunday, Betis will have to go on the road whether they like it or not!

The only time they got three points was in the 2-1 win against Osasuna in October; the last time they got two defeats in a row was the first time. 2:4 against Valencia and 0:2 against Real Sociedad, defensively it doesn’t make the best impression.

The 2:4 against Valencia surprised me so much because Betis never concedes more than two goals away from home. Before that, it had been exactly one in four consecutive games.

And what about their own offense? Four times without a goal, twice with one, twice with two, they don’t really play brilliantly. In the last four matches, the green-whites always fell behind, twice they secured a draw with a goal in stoppage time.

So maybe you should bet on the Andalusians scoring in the second half? That has happened in eight of their last ten games, so you can get odds of 2.05 for this tip at Interwetten.

Speaking of odds, in view of the current crisis, it was of course not possible for our bookmakers to make Betis favorites in this match. On average, odds of 4.40 are due, while Villarreal starts the race at 1.77.

And that’s despite Betis not having lost in three of their last four appearances in Villarreal! 3:2 and 2:1, last season both teams celebrated narrow victories – and both away from home.

Villarreal are not exactly brimming with confidence either, having not won in their last three games. Last Sunday, they lost 0-2 to Bilbao, only their third defeat of the season.

Goals are always scored at home, and there have only been two goalless matches away from home. With Ayoze Perez, Villarreal is missing its most dangerous attacker, with seven goals in the league to his name.

It is definitely interesting to note that La Ceramica has already scored eight times since the 80th minute – sometimes on the left, sometimes on the right! With a total of 30 goals, that’s quite a few, so nobody can be written off here.

Absolutely top form? No, that’s neither Villarreal on the one hand nor Betis Sevilla on the other. However, the away team’s weakness away from home comes on top of that, which is why I see little chance of a win on Sunday.

But: Even though Villarreal only lost at home to Barca, they always concede goals with one single exception. 30 goals in seven home games, the average is quite high and promises a lot.

So, there is a good opportunity for Betis to get their own offense going and maybe even ensure that at least one point comes out at the end. In any case, my tip for you is:

Both Teams Score!
