The big competitor for the title makes several mistakes, and instead of rigorously taking advantage of them, they suddenly no longer win as usual! Real Madrid, Atletico and Barcelona are now in a hot three-way battle at the top of La Liga.
The Whites are happy that their series of away games will finally be broken again – a team that has not won at the Bernabeu since 2008 is coming to visit! Consequently, I will now tell you in my Real Madrid Sevilla tip why I would risk a 0-1 HC on the hosts.
38 points for Barcelona, 38 for Atletico, 37 for Real – but the two clubs from the capital still have a game in hand! The situation at the top of the Primera Division could not be more exciting just before Christmas.
The Whites should really be capitalizing on the fact that Barcelona have lost their former dominance and are now even losing home games to clubs like Leganes.
Real itself is suddenly struggling quite a bit. After losing 1-2 to Athletic Bilbao, it seemed to be going well again with the 3-0 win over Girona, but no one knew yet that there would be a 3-3 draw against Rayo Vallecano a little later.
First, the title defender turned a 0:2 into a 3:2, only to be unable to hold on to this narrow lead. To be fair, I have to say that the weak last few weeks are certainly due to the fact that they were not allowed to play at home.
The Madrilenians have had to play away from home three times in a row, and such a procedure is not uncommon in Spain. And if they make a mistake this season, it is almost always away from home.
Seven wins and the defeat in the Clasico, three goals conceded, if you exclude the defeat against Barca, in the Bernabeu, the performance of the Whites is absolutely respectable.
With four wins, four draws, one defeat and nine goals conceded, things look much less rosy away from home. So it’s all the better that it’s points at home again on Sunday.
3:0, 2:0, 4:1, 3:2, 2:0, 4:0, 2:0 – the results, which were achieved alongside the aforementioned Clasico, were really strong, with Real keeping five clean sheets at home already. In four of the last five home games, the Whites also led at half-time, often by 2:0.
If the home side are also leading after the first 45 minutes on Sunday, Oddset will offer odds of 1.73. Fortunately, Sevilla are not an opponent that has made life difficult for Madrid in recent years.
They last lost over six years ago, and Real have not conceded a defeat at the Bernabeu since December 2008. Is it a bad omen that the last two home defeats against Sevilla were in December?
Admittedly, that’s a bit far-fetched given the great historical statistics. 16 wins and two draws is an absolutely impressive record in recent years at home.
For our tax-free betting providers, the question of who will start the game as favorites on Sunday is therefore not an issue – the average odds of 1.37 to 8.00 are very clear.
Of course, this also has something to do with the fact that Sevilla FC are only in eleventh place in the table. Six wins, four draws and seven defeats – they are unable to finish higher than mid-table.
The victories all come individually, there has not yet been a double pack. Since they recently won 1-0 against Celta Viga, this fact is not uninteresting. In any case, the Andalusians have a problem with away games.
Only one of the eight games ended in victory, when they managed a 2-0 win at Espanyol at the end of October. 3-4 at Atletico, 1-5 at Barca, the two trips to the other two top teams in the league ended in absolute disaster, especially from a defensive point of view.
On the other hand, I can see that Sevilla only lost by a high margin away from home in their 5-1 defeat to Barcelona, with all their defeats only being one goal behind.
Real Madrid host Sevilla – what could possibly go wrong! In my analysis, I was impressed to see how much the Whites love hosting their upcoming opponents, with victories being a matter of course.
Fittingly, Real have won seven of their eight home games this season, six of them comfortably and five without conceding a goal. For the visitors, on the other hand, an away win is anything but easy.
So my bet is obvious, because when a strong home team meets a favorite with a weak away record, I can only tip:
Real wins 0-1 away to Sevilla!
