Rennes – Lille betting tip, prediction & odds 16/02/2025

Ligue 1, Sunday, 16/02/2025 at 8:45 PM

The chance of winning the title miles away, even second place not in sight – how easy is it to motivate yourself? Lille, who made a convincing run to the knockout stages of the Champions League, faces different challenges in Ligue 1.

On Sunday, it’s the opponent against whom the Doges have most often drawn in recent years who are waiting! That’s reason enough for me to tell you in my Rennes Lille tip why I’m going for the double chance X2 with under 4.5 goals here – and recommend the tip X for the very brave!

Lille have only played eight international matches for five wins. For nine wins in the league, they had to play 21 matches – this rate is not quite as convincing! Apparently, the Doges have big plans for 2024/25 in Europe, so a triumph in the premier class would be enough to qualify for the Champions League in the coming season.

Of course, we are not there yet, but things could definitely be going better in Ligue 1. Two of the last seven games have been won, and they have only managed to get at least two wins in a row twice. So, we are looking in vain for winning streaks. By mid-January, the team had only lost twice, but suddenly it took just three matches for them to suffer two more defeats.

1-2 to Strasbourg and 1-2 to Le Havre? It was beyond comprehension! The Doges have conceded goals without interruption for four games, but this has not happened to them five times in a row. So, should we bet on keeping a clean sheet on Sunday?

You can of course do that, the corresponding odds at Bet365 create a 3.50. Too risky? It’s a good thing that you can get up to 100 euros in the form of betting credits at Bet365, which could come in handy for this tip.

Lille have not won in their last five away games, but they have picked up at least a point in four of those games. 0-0, 1-1 or 2-2? Anything is possible! They have picked up a total of five draws away from home, which equates to a 50 percent success rate.

13:8 goals? The team doesn’t exactly look the most offensive, but on the other hand they have only conceded three goals in the first 45 minutes away from home. Unsurprisingly, seven of the 13 goals were scored by top striker Jonathan David.

He didn’t score in the 1-0 win against Rennes in the first leg, which Lille owed to Edon Zhegrova – and that’s the same player who is now injured! Historically, however, there is little to suggest that they will lose at the weekend.

The Doges have not lost in eleven matches, but it should definitely be noted here that there were no winners in six of them. 2:2, 3:1, 2:1, 1:0, 1:1, that’s the most recent tally in away games.

Take a look at our best German betting providers and you will see: it’s not that easy to pick a favorite here. The visitors from Lille are just behind, odds of 2.70 to 2.50 show that anything is possible here.

Stade Rennes are not really playing well and have recently had to recover from four defeats in a row, conceding ten goals. 1-0 against Strasbourg and 2-0 against St. Etienne, the two clean sheet wins were particularly good for the defense.

It was the first time that they had kept two consecutive clean sheets. The only problem is that the Terriers have NEVER managed to avoid defeat three times in a row.

I already count a whopping twelve defeats, because unlike Lille, they don’t like to draw here (only twice). They conceded 16 goals in the first half alone, while Lille have only conceded 22 in total.

Now Rennes are at least more solid in their own stadium, where they have won six of their seven matches. It’s funny that all six victories were clean sheets, whereas in the four defeats, they always conceded exactly two goals.

Will Lille remain unbeaten against Rennes for another year? For years, the Doges have been getting points for this duel, but often only one – and in the current season, they love to draw!

Rennes doesn’t do that, and that’s what makes this game even more interesting. The home side lose very often, but they are definitely much stronger at home than away.

Since the fourth matchday, however, the guests have only lost twice, so consistency is undeniable. Based on this fact, I have now decided to recommend the following tip to you:

Lille score a maximum of four goals!
