Champions League, Tuesday, 2/18/2025 at 6:45 p.m.
This week, we have two exciting Dutch-Italian Champions League playoff second legs ahead of us, and both promise to be thrilling.
My AC Milan v Feyenoord Rotterdam prediction is mainly about the question of whether Pascal Bosschaart can go from being an interim coach to the new darling of the Dutch fans within a few weeks.
Feyenoord have already taken the lead with a 1-0 home win, but AC are always dangerous in their own stadium.
However, I have my doubts as to whether the men from the Italian fashion capital are really that much better under Sergio Concencaio than they were under his predecessor Paulo Fonseca.
Will Milan be able to withstand the pressure and qualify for the last sixteen, or will Rotterdam’s Feyenoord pull off a major coup at the venerable San Siro?
It is true that the betting companies see Milan as the clear favorites, but the history against Feyenoord is a little worrying. Although AC undoubtedly has the advantage of playing at home, the two defeats in the last three direct duels raise questions.
The “stadium club” proved itself to be a strong opponent once again just a week ago, and the visitors could therefore demand a lot more from Milan on Tuesday than many currently expect.
In view of an AC Milan Feyenoord Rotterdam tip that deals solely with the question of who will now reach the next round, I tend to bet on the Dutch because of the odds, which are a bit too one-sided for me.
The bookmakers’ prediction
The betting providers agree: Milan will probably make up for the deficit from the first game. With odds of 1.45 for the Rossoneri to win at home, it quickly becomes clear that they are the favorites in the betting markets going into the second leg.
Feyenoord Rotterdam, on the other hand, are given a decent odds as outsiders at around 6.75 – so a surprise coup by the Dutch team seems rather unlikely.
Finally, the draw is valued at around 4.70, which also shows that, in my opinion, the AC Milan Feyenoord Rotterdam odds slightly overestimate the host’s chances of playing.
AI-Prediction AC Milan vs Feyenoord: That’s what ChatGPT tips
Occasionally I ask ChatGPT for some objective suggestions that “he” can give me. Especially when important games are on the program. However, I’m not exactly overwhelmed by his AC Milan Feyenoord Rotterdam prediction.
For the high risk, ChatGPT suggests “Milan win after being behind”. However, I could imagine the opposite and am therefore not really convinced by this tip. However, an eventful game is quite possible.
For a medium-risk need in sports betting, on the other hand, “Leao scores” is recommended.
The Portuguese is one of the more consistent players for Milan, but in his last six appearances for the Rossoneri, he has only scored once. Therefore, I am a bit more cautious about this tip. However, the odds are quite appealing at 2.75 on average!
For the low risk, the AI finally suggests “Over 2.5 goals”. Personally, I also expect a more eventful game than a week ago.
Milan will have to open up after the break at the latest, which is why I consider this bet to be highly likely.
Analysis: AC Milan vs Feyenoord Rotterdam
AC Milan face a difficult task in the second leg of the Champions League playoff against Feyenoord after losing 1-0 in the first leg.
The Milan team did win 1-0 against Verona at the weekend, but it was more of a struggle – almost like the 2-0 win against Empoli the week before.
In both cases, it was only a late acceleration that paved the way for the eventual victory. But Feyenoord will probably be able to hold out longer than the two aforementioned Italian relegation candidates.
Feyenoord, for their part, are aiming to reach the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time in 50 years.
Their victory in the first leg is particularly noteworthy given that Pascal Bosschaart is currently serving as an interim coach and the team has yet to concede a goal under his leadership.
Nevertheless, Feyenoord have a history of struggling in away games in the Champions League, with just three wins from their last 17 appearances in the competition. This will definitely be a hurdle.
And as you will soon find out, European Cup trips to Italy usually never end with a happy ending for the “Boeren”.
Rating Analysis
In terms of great free bets, the data and the AC Milan Feyenoord Rotterdam odds, I immediately spotted several offers that smelled of value betting.
In 44% of all Champions League games involving AC Milan this season, most of the goals were scored in the first half, which makes the “most goals in the first half” tip, currently at 3.05, quite worthwhile.
In view of the starting position, on the other hand, “Both teams score” could almost be too good an offer at around 1.80, since in my opinion it is almost a certainty that both the Italians and the Dutch will score a goal each.
AC Milan vs. Feyenoord odds: Unhappy south of the Alps!
Feyenoord fans usually only travel to Italy for a vacation on the Riviera, not to support their team in important European Cup matches – and not without reason.
Feyenoord have lost five of their last six away games against Italian teams in European competitions. The only time they avoided defeat was in February 2000, when they won 2-1 at Lazio.
A date with history? The only other knockout tie they have played in this period was against an Italian side, against Milan of all teams, at San Siro in the 1969/70 season, which they lost 1-0.
The return game is guaranteed to be more entertaining!
As already mentioned, the betting providers are quite confident that Milan will advance. But is that really justified?
After all, Milan have only managed to secure their own progress in one of six cases after losing a Champions League first leg.
The only precedent for success in this case occurred in 2006/07 against Manchester United, when they lost 3-2 in the first leg and won 3-0 in the second leg to advance to the final. But that was almost two decades ago.
The second leg is unlikely to be as uneventful as the first – at least the statistical probability of that happening is very low.
After all, the first meeting between Feyenoord and Milan produced just 1.06 expected goals, which was the second-lowest xG figure so far in this Champions League season.
It was also one of only two games this year in which neither team created a big scoring chance – the other was the game between Inter and Sparta Prague in January. The starting position alone will prevent a similar outcome on Tuesday!
Finally, it should be mentioned that in 89% of all Champions League games involving Feyenoord Rotterdam this season, at least 3 goals have been scored. So the Dutch team rarely offers us boring games like the one last week!
This high goal rate suggests that the second leg will also be a goal-filled game, especially considering that Milan will have to play very differently than they did a week ago due to the deficit!
My AC Milan Feyenoord Rotterdam Tip:
AC Milan is too much of a favorite for me in this second leg on the markets. Feyenoord Rotterdam showed last week that they are able to put up a tough fight against the Italians.
If the Milanese are too offensive on Tuesday, they could also be quickly counterattacked. It is precisely in such situations that the “stadium club” is particularly dangerous.
A hard-fought game is to be expected, and Rotterdam could once again make life difficult for the Milanese and possibly even deny them promotion.
My AC Milan Feyenoord Rotterdam betting tip would rather play it safe: Both teams to score.
