It’s a race to catch up that should not be over for a long time! AS Roma thank God got their act together a few weeks ago and have been climbing up the table bit by bit ever since. Tasks like the one on Monday should no longer pose a problem.
In my AS Roma Monza betting tip, I analyze a home game against the bottom of the league, and whoever wants to reach the international places cannot afford to make a mistake here. I will therefore tell you why I expect a home win, but one that will not result in more than four goals.
Four wins from 16 rounds? What a situation that was! In Rome, when the colors were yellow and red, you had to watch for several months as your team went through a deep crisis, while Lazio, their archrival, was right at the top.
It was only just before Christmas that AS began to play to its strengths again. Since then, they have not lost a game, putting together a great series of six wins and three draws. A series that should, of course, continue for much longer.
No one is interested in the fact that I am not talking about comfortable victories here, but rather about tight, efficient performances. It was only at the end of January that Rome managed to get their first away win of the season – since then, they have added two more!
The team recently played away twice in a row, winning 1-0 against both Venezia and Parma Calcio. One goal from the spot, the other from a direct free-kick – classic dirty victories!
When did they concede the equalizer in the 1-1 draw with Napoli? In injury time, of course. Both goals in the 2-1 win over Udinese? Both of which came from the penalty spot. An own goal helped in the 3-1 win over Genoa, while in the 2-2 draw with Bologna, Roma equalized from the penalty spot in injury time.
So if I take a closer look at the last six games, I have to honestly say: that was luck at its best! Four penalties, a direct free kick, an own goal, two goals just before the end of the game, it really was quite a lot.
Is it pure luck or do the yellow-reds force their results? It will probably be a mixture of both. With four wins and a draw, the results have also been right in the home Olympic Stadium recently.
Although they have won seven times here, the home side have only led at half-time four times. In this respect, the bet “double chance X2 after the first half” could be worthwhile for you.
In the app of the bookmaker Bet365, you can get odds of 1.87 for this. It would be no surprise that it is sometimes difficult to get going against the last.
Paulo Dybala is still considered questionable for Monday, and the fans hope that the Argentine world champion has cured his slight knee injury in time. There is something to make up for in Monza, where only a draw was achieved in the first half of the season.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw, it was only the fifth direct duel since 1988. Roma won the two home games 3-0 and 1-0, with Dybala, who was just mentioned, scoring a total of three times.
Incidentally, with average odds of 1.30 to 11.0, both teams will be going into the race on Monday, so the question of favorites does not arise. Not surprising, after all, Monza is the last to arrive.
With Venezia and Parma, the teams that are immediately ahead of Monza were the last to arrive, so Roma have to avoid relegation. The team to face them has two wins to their name, fewer than any other.
In October, they beat Hellas Verona 3-0, followed by a surprise 2-1 win against Fiorentina in January. It is not as if the Reds are getting hammered from weekend to weekend.
They have lost six times 1-2, four times 0-1, three times 0-2 and once 1-3. The only real thrashing came in their most recent home game. 5-1 – and in the Olympic Stadium in Rome, of all places, only against Lazio!
Since mid-December, they have conceded at least two goals in every away game. Interestingly, Monza conceded exactly two goals in the first half of all these games. In the event that Roma scores two goals on Monday, no more and no less, Interwetten is offering odds of 3.30.
Roma is on track – but we shouldn’t expect a surprise offensive football! With effective performances and quite late, lucky goals, the yellow-reds are working their way out of their long crisis.
At the Olympic Stadium, the form is right. A statement that has never been made about AC Monza this season. The bottom of the league has been incredibly unlucky, with most defeats resulting in only one goal behind.
Since one goal is usually the maximum and I don’t expect the Romans to have a shooting party either, but rather the next effective performance, I have decided on the following tip:
Rome wins with less than 4.5 goals!
