Coppa Italia quarter-finals, Tuesday, 25.02.2025 at 21:00
Inter Milan vs Lazio – a match worthy of a final! But instead, we’re already seeing this explosive clash in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia.
Both teams will be throwing everything they’ve got at each other to take a decisive step towards the Coppa Italia within 90 minutes or a possible penalty shoot-out.
Find out who will come out on top and continue their journey to the title in my Inter Milan Lazio Roma betting tip.
Inter are in good form at the moment and only regained first place in Serie A at the weekend, while SSC continue to stumble.
The “Nerazzurri” are therefore on a promising course towards defending their title. Lazio, although without a serious chance of winning the Serie A title themselves, will do everything in their power to prevent Milan from winning the domestic double in the cup on Tuesday.
The capital side always have the potential to surprise in such high-profile matches.
However, since the home side are a bit deeper after the injury to Yann Sommer, I expect a low-scoring encounter according to my Inter Milan Lazio Rome prediction.
The oddsmakers’ forecast?
The bookmakers with PayPal clearly favor Inter Milan in this quarter-final with home win odds of around 1.63.
It is therefore difficult for them to imagine that the “Nerazzurri” will not emerge victorious from this match, especially given their current strong form.
The visiting team, on the other hand, are seen as clear underdogs with Inter Milan Lazio Rome odds of around 4.90 for an away win.
Analysis: Inter Milan vs Lazio Rome
Inter Milan beat Genoa 1-0 at the weekend to take the lead in the Serie A table. Now the focus turns to the Coppa Italia, where they face a quarter-final clash against Lazio.
This poses an additional challenge for coach Simone Inzaghi, as the team has to play an important top-of-the-table match against Napoli in Serie A just a few days later. The fixture list could hardly be nastier for the Milanese.
Nevertheless, Inter have already beaten Lazio 6-0 in the league this season and play at home in the San Siro, where they are unbeaten in 16 games (12 wins, 4 draws). They should take heart from that.
Lazio, on the other hand, have failed to reach the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia four times in the last five years and will be looking for revenge for the aforementioned 6-0 defeat in the league.
The “Biancocelesti” also have upcoming fixtures against AC Milan and the Europa League clash against Viktoria Pilsen, which also represents an enormous physical burden.
Their away form, meanwhile, has been inconsistent (2 wins, 1 draw, 2 defeats) and they have recently struggled in foreign stadiums. I can therefore understand the bookmakers assigning the home side the clear favorite role.
Rating Analysis
“Hakan Çalhanoğlu scores” at around 3.60 is – as you will find out later – a pretty hot Inter Milan Lazio Rome tip. The Turkish playmaker is known for delivering at crucial moments.
Betting on a 0:0 at half-time at around 2.92 could also prove worthwhile for you.
Because in such explosive cup matches, in which both teams play it safe, especially in the first 45 minutes, and initially feel each other out, it is not uncommon for the teams to go into the dressing room without scoring.
Inter usually play it safe in the cup!
A one-nil win for Milan seems quite plausible, especially if you consult soccer analysts. After all, they would immediately point to the generally strong defensive performances of Inzaghi’s side in the Coppa Italia.
Watch out: In the last seven games at the San Siro, they have kept a clean sheet in six of them.
Want a little suggestion? Register at NEO.bet and select “Inter win to zero”, which would give you really good odds of around 2.80 in the event of success.
Inter more defensively oriented without Sommer!
Yann Sommer is currently injured – and in my opinion Inter are playing a little more cautiously since the number two has been in goal.
Josep Martinez made his first appearance for his new employers at the weekend in the aforementioned 1-0 win over Genoa – against his former club of all teams.
Inter looked hesitant and safety-conscious after that, which is why I can well imagine that they will also adopt a safety-first approach against Lazio.
There are clubs that attach more importance to the cup than others. Napoli, for example, only fielded a B-team against Lazio in the round of 16 and to a certain extent accepted their elimination.
Inter, on the other hand, have won the trophy twice in the last three years. It’s only logical that the northern Italians hold it in high esteem
And I can’t for the life of me imagine that Lazio will be the first club outside Milan to beat Inter at the San Siro in over six months.
Especially as Hakan Çalhanoğlu, who is extremely important for the home side’s build-up play, is fit again and, apart from Sommer and Thuram, no other regulars are missing.
Incidentally, the Turk set up the goal against Genoa at the weekend and has contributed to a total of ten goals in head-to-head matches against Lazio (5 goals, 5 assists), including a goal and an assist in the historic 6-0 win.
My tip:
Inter host Lazio in a match that will be exciting due to the defensive alignment of both teams. Lazio still have the traumatic 6-0 defeat against Inter in the back of their minds and will certainly be more cautious.
Inter will also be a little more cautious with their number two in goal.
Both sides are therefore likely to be keen to avoid mistakes on Tuesday, which could lead to a more strategic and defensive game.
My Inter Milan Lazio Rome tip: Under 2.5 goals
