There are top European leagues where the championship is a sure thing. And the French Ligue 1 is one of them again this season! After 25 matchdays, Paris St. Germain already have a 16-point lead.
On Sunday, the superstars will host the second-placed team, but of course I still can’t speak of a real title duel. In my PSG Marseille betting tip, I will now tell you why I expect it to be a rather close game and therefore bet on a 2-0 handicap for the guests.
The championship is a must, the Champions League is the icing on the cake. For Paris St. Germain, this 2024/25 season will only be a success if they do well in both competitions.
Why am I mentioning this at the beginning of a Ligue 1 game? Quite simply because on Tuesday the French managed the feat of knocking out Liverpool, the big CL favorite!
PSG were already the better team when they went into the second leg leading 1-0. They held their nerve in the second leg. After a 1-1 draw overall, it went to penalties, with the Parisians pulling off a mental tour de force.
Will they take this momentum into the league or take it easy? The 120 minutes took an enormous amount of energy, of course, but PSG could easily afford to have a bad day in their day-to-day lives.
At the moment, however, the stars don’t seem like they’re giving away games. Twenty wins and five draws are unparalleled compared to the competition, as are 70 goals and 24 goals against.
If I can reproach the team at all, it’s perhaps that they’ve only had one clean sheet since the beginning of December. They’ve kept a clean sheet a total of six times, even though PSG still has the best defense in the country.
