Marcin Kaminski’s contract at Schalke expires in the summer. The 33-year-old Pole, who would like to stay with the Gelsenkirchen club, has reportedly not yet held talks about an extension. Supporters such as coach Kees van Wonderen, who has relied on the central defender continuously since matchday 11, also see the central defender as a member of the squad in the future. However, there are also doubters as to whether Kaminski can be considered a permanent fixture for Schalke, who have promotion ambitions for the coming season. Kaminski himself sees it that way and feels he is absolutely up to the demands at this level. The veteran does not envisage a role as a noble reserve, he “still wants to be on the pitch”. It remains to be seen whether he will remain at Schalke.
