Favorites & starting position ahead of the Sun Valley World Cup Final 2025

Ahead of the start of the Ski World Cup Final 2025 in Sun Valley, some decisions have already been made.

Marco Odermatt is the overall World Cup winner and has also won the super-G and giant slalom rankings ahead of time. This means that only the men’s downhill and slalom are still open.

In the women’s event, the overall World Cup is 99.9 percent won by Federica Brignone, but the four disciplines – downhill, super-G, giant slalom and slalom – are still up for grabs. Brignone could win three of them!

Who has already been crowned the winner and who can still claim the crystal globe in Sun Valley?

Overall World Cup

The overall men’s World Cup has already been decided ahead of the 2025 Ski World Cup Final.

Marco Odermatt travels to the USA for the season finale in Sun Valley with 1564 points. The runner-up in the overall standings is Henrik Kristoffersen with 1006 points.

The Swiss all-rounder has thus already secured the big crystal globe for the overall World Cup before the final Sun Valley World Cup.

In the women’s event, the overall World Cup is 99.9 percent decided. Federica Brignone has a lead of 382 points over second-placed Lara Gut-Behrami ahead of the remaining four races.

Gut-Behrami would have to win the downhill, super-G and giant slalom, while Brignone would have to score just a handful of points. And then the Swiss, who is anything but a slalom specialist, would also have to win the slalom to finish.

Abfahrt

A Swiss duel for the Downhill World Cup at the 2025 Ski World Cup Final!

Marco Odermatt has 605 points in the downhill ranking ahead of the Sun Valley World Cup 2025. His rival Franjo von Allmen is on 522 points. The youngster is also the only one who could still snatch the downhill crystal from Odermatt.

But to do so, von Allmen would have to make up 83 points in the final downhill race, which is scheduled for Saturday at the Ski World Cup Final 2025 program. This means that Franjo von Allmen MUST win if he wants to win the Downhill World Cup.

However, if von Allmen wins the downhill at the Sun Valley World Cup, Odermatt can only score a maximum of 16 points so that “FVA” can still win the downhill classification in the end.

There will even be a three-way battle for the women’s downhill crystal at the Ski World Cup Final 2025!

Federica Brignone (ITA) leads with 384 points ahead of Cornelia Hütter (AUT) with 368 points and Sofia Goggia (ITA), who is on 350 points.

Hütter has to make up 16 points on Brignone, Goggia has to catch up 34 on Brignone and 18 on Hütter to become the best female downhill racer of the season in the end.

Super-G

There is only one decision left in the Super-G at the 2025 Ski World Cup Final in Sun Valley.

Marco Odermatt has dominated this discipline in the men’s event – he has won three out of seven races.

The Swiss superstar comes to the Sun Valley World Cup 2025 with a total of 491 points. His closest rival is Austria’s Vincent Kriechmayr with 291 points.

The women’s Super-G at this year’s season finale promises more excitement. It’s a duel between Federica Brignone and Lara Gut-Behrami. The Italian is ahead of the Swiss by just 5 points (!)!

Giant Slalom

The men’s giant slalom at the Sun Valley World Cup 2025 is also down to the last race win.

Odermatt has won the giant slalom World Cup early. He is on 500 points, with Henrik Kristoffersen (NOR) in first place on 394 points.

In the women’s Ski World Cup final, there is a duel for the giant slalom globe – between New Zealander Alice Robinson and Federica Brignone. Robinson leads by 20 points ahead of the final and decisive race.

If Brignone wins the giant slalom at the Sun Valley World Cup 2025 and Robinson comes second, the two would be tied on points. Then the better results would count and here the Italian would clearly be ahead with more victories (5 compared to 1).

Slalom

The last decisions on the Ski World Cup Final 2025 program are in the slalom on 27 March. The small crystal globe is still at stake in both races.

In the men’s race, there is a three-way battle between Henrik Kristoffersen, Loic Meillard and Clement Noel.

Kristoffersen (NOR) leads the slalom World Cup with 612 points, Meillard (SUI) comes to the season finale in second place, 47 points behind. Noel (FRA) already has 86 points to make up.

In the women’s race, there is theoretically even a four-way battle for the slalom crystal at the last Sun Valley World Cup race.

With 515 points, Zrinka Ljutic (CRO) is also leading the slalom standings. Camille Rast is currently in second place with 474 points. In third place is the Austrian Katharina Liensberger (464). And Wendy Holdener (SUI) still has a theoretical chance of winning the Slalom World Cup, although she is 96 points behind Ljutic.
