An era has come to an end in the MLS. Sporting Kansas City have parted ways with head coach Peter Vermes after a disappointing start to the season in which they only managed one point from their first six games. The 58-year-old had been with the club since 2006, first as technical director, then as interim head coach and, from August 2009, in the role of head coach. For the time being, Kerry Zavagnin, a professional in Kansas City himself from 2000 to 2008, will take over the team, including players Tim Leibold, Erik Thommy and Robert Voloder, as interim head coach.
