Ligue 1, Matchday 28, Saturday, 05.04.2025 at 17:00
It’s only a matter of time before the league title is decided – who would have expected anything else! Paris St. Germain are enthroned at the top of Ligue 1, deciding for themselves from weekend to weekend just how big a victory they can expect.
Of course, it’s not surprising that the role of favorites in the home game against a relegation candidate is set in stone.
In my PSG Angers betting tip, I’ll tell you why I’m not only predicting a win for the favorites, but also a Dembele goal
21 points ahead with seven rounds left to play – what else can happen with a goal difference of 33 goals! Paris St. Germain are just waiting for mathematical confirmation, then it’s time to celebrate.
While the star-studded squad let it all hang out towards the end last season and even put the title in jeopardy, things will look very different in 2024/25.
And so it is that there has still not been a single defeat.
22 wins and five draws, a really strong haul. The current run includes eight three-pointers, more than ever before.
So I have to deal with luxury problems and indeed: I immediately notice one.
In twelve of the last 13 games, PSG have not played to nil, with a total of just six white vests. But what’s even more interesting is that they have conceded 21 goals, 16 times exactly one.
Top bookmaker Interwetten offers a perfect bet here. Here you can bet that Angers will score exactly one goal. The odds are estimated at an average of 2.50.
This principle of conceding one goal has been in effect for seven home games, with nine of 13 matches featuring exactly that. With a total of 26 goals conceded, Paris still have the best defense in the league, which was to be expected.
Will the Stars now do all they can to continue their winning streak? The first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals is on Wednesday, four days later, and PSG are desperate to win the trophy this year.
I can’t rule out a rotation, but as Aston Villa aren’t a real tough opponent, they could concentrate on the championship first. So I expect Ousmane Dembele to be on the pitch from the start.
He didn’t actually score in the recent 6-1 win over St. Etienne, having previously netted 16 times in eleven games. He didn’t even play half an hour against Etienne, and PSG were already leading 6-1 when he came on.
Dembele didn’t actually score or set up a goal in the 4-2 win over Angers in the first half. It was the 17th win in a row against their upcoming opponents, so you really can’t find anything to criticize.
Only twice did Paris settle for a goal in this period, and it was not uncommon for them to score significantly more. Accordingly, I’m not surprised that the odds at our PayPal betting providers climb to an average of 1.15 to 15.0.
The -1 HC would therefore not be worthwhile at all, you would have to bet on a -2 to achieve effective odds of 1.85. Fittingly, Angers travel to the capital completely out of form.
Four defeats without a goal, that was nothing. 0:4 against Toulouse, 0:2 against Brest, 0:2 against Monaco and 0:3 against Rennes, the team has never gone so long without scoring.
With 14 goals conceded in the last five matches, nobody is satisfied either. Nine defeats at home, five away? In fact, the returnee feels much more comfortable away from home than at home
He has conceded twice as many goals (30) at home, which is more than striking. But: Five goals conceded in the last two games alone, so it could well be that the downward trend has only just begun.
A 0:2, which is definitely worth mentioning, is the clearest defeat away from home. So the Whites and Blacks don’t really get caught out away from home, not even by the best
Paris have it in their own hands and can finally wrap up the championship (which is already a foregone conclusion). I can’t find anything to criticize about the leaders, they have everything under control and usually win very clearly.
Angers, on the other hand, arrive with four defeats without a goal and are in a relegation battle. Although the visitors generally prefer to play away from home, PSG are also their most fearful opponents. A win for the home side is therefore out of the question for me.
As Dembele is in really good form, I think he can score at least one goal. I’ll combine that with my prediction 1 and say:
Paris win, Dembele scores!
