The goal for the rest of the season: just get the Premier League over with reasonably well, maybe a single-digit place in the table will come out at the end.
It’s hard to believe, but this sentence actually reflects Manchester United’s level of performance.
The Red Devils travel to St. James’ Park at the weekend. A team that is desperate to get into the premier league will be playing at home there.
The table pictures are very different, so I’ll tell you now in my Newcastle Manchester United tip why I’m taking the double chance 1X at under 4.5 goals.
If you have to praise the fact that only one of the last six games has been lost, then you already know: This 2024/25 season so far cannot have met your own expectations.
Manchester United are putting a huge strain on the nerves of their own fans. With 38 points, they are in 13th place, and are lucky that there are three very weak teams in Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton, who will decide the relegation among themselves.
ManUnited have only won ten out of 31 games, an incredible rate. Taking three points twice in a row? Not at all. They lost 1-0 to Nottingham and then played 0-0 against Manchester City.
Caution: Twice this season, the Red Devils have even failed to score three times in a row. The last time this happened was over the Christmas period – and, as luck would have it, match number three was against Newcastle.
So, if you want to bet that United won’t score on Sunday, you can place exactly this tip at Betano. The odds climb to 2.65. In addition, as a new customer, you should not miss out on the Betano bonus.
With the code “BONUSVIP”, a 20 euro no deposit bonus bet is possible, and there can be a further 80 euros. It doesn’t really matter where Manchester United play, but away from home, with four wins and 16 goals, things are a little worse.
16:16 goals in 15 games? On average, spectators see 2.1 goals per away game. Ten of the 2024/25 wins came against teams that were in the bottom half of the table at the time of the respective match day.
With four defeats in their last five games, Newcastle are not exactly an easy opponent at the moment. In four of their last five games, they have conceded at least two goals.
By the way, Betano offers odds of 1.62 for the bet that Newcastle will score at least twice on Sunday. At least: It hasn’t happened to United since 1930/31 to lose both duels against Newcastle in one season – that was quite a while ago.
If you want to target the double chance X2 for this reason, there are odds of 2.15 to be cleared at Betway. In general, it quickly becomes clear that the bookies are not on the visitors’ side.
While the Red Devils go into the game with an average of 4.65, the home side have a 1.70. Newcastle are in the middle of a big pack fighting for a place in the Champions League.
With a game in hand, the Magpies have a game in hand (they face Crystal Palace on April 16) and could secure an excellent position in the race for a place in the Champions League. It’s a good thing, then, that Newcastle have won their last three games.
Over the turn of the year, they won six games in a row, so the team is no stranger to winning streaks. Back then, they also managed to keep a clean sheet in the first half four times in a row – they currently have three.
The 2.5 goals have always been scored in eight home games. Whenever Alexander Isak scores at home, they score. His team has triumphed seven times thanks to one of his goals, so Manchester must watch him especially closely.
If you’re feeling brave, you can place a bet with Betano on “Newcastle to win and Isak to score”, with odds of 2.72.
Newcastle United want to get into the Champions League, while Manchester just want to get out of this season. I can’t really say much more about the Red Devils’ performances, because things are still going badly at the back and at the front.
They are losing less often, but that’s little consolation. Newcastle have been anything but a favorite opponent in recent years. At least I have realized that there have been no two league defeats in one season for ages.
Therefore, I am cautious and bet on the double chance 1X. Since away games of the guests only score about two goals on average, I also limit the possibility of a spectacle and say:
Newcastle scores at Under 4.5 goals!
