Home advantage alone is no longer enough of a guarantee. Inter have lost their last two games at home, across all competitions, and are now on the verge of suffering three consecutive home defeats for the first time in over two years.
And yet, almost everything suggests that it won’t come to that – at least if you take a look at the history books: Inter have never lost at home to Verona in Serie A (22 wins, 11 draws), and the last seven home games against the Gialloblù have all gone to the hosts.

As for Verona, they are a team that is keeping their heads above water but are playing with the brakes on.
The 0-2 defeat to Cagliari was their fifth game in a row without a win – and even though they are still seven points clear of the relegation zone, a point at San Siro would be worth its weight in gold.
Coach Zanetti will set his team up defensively and hope for counter-attacking opportunities. However, their away record speaks for itself: ten away defeats, only two teams in the league have lost more often on the road.
Don’t forget that both Coppola and Ghilardi will be forced to watch from the stands on Saturday due to yellow and red card suspensions.
So the question in this match is not whether Inter will win, but how. The form curve may not favor the clear favorites, but the Champions League push against Barça and their historic dominance over Verona could provide the decisive mental boost.
This fits in with the fact that Inter have been scoring late goals recently: Marcus Thuram, for example, scored four of his last five Serie A goals for the Milanese side after the 60th minute.
But in the first leg against Verona, he was on target early on – twice in the first 25 minutes – showing that he is dangerous both at the start and in crunch time.
On the other side, Daniel Mosquera has scored five goals for Verona, but all of them came late – from the 75th minute onwards.
So there is a lot to suggest that Inter will clearly win the first half, while Verona will only make their mark again towards the end. It won’t be a repeat of the Barcelona game, but a 3-1 or 3-2 win for the Nerazzurri could well be the final score!
As far as the number of goals is concerned, it’s worth taking a look at the bare figures: Inter are joint top of the league in this category with 14 games over 3.5 goals.
And even if Verona have little to offer in attack, a late goal or a counterattack could see this game tip over that goal line again.
Especially since Inter have had a grueling game during the week and it is quite possible that they will not defend consistently if they have a comfortable lead.
I am currently relying primarily on the aforementioned Betano app when it comes to specific tips for Inter Milan vs. Verona. It gives me quick access to statistics, live odds, and, of course, my personal favorite bets.
The tip “1st goal Inter” – currently at odds of 1.31 – particularly caught my eye. This seems to me to be one of the safest predictions in this match, as the Nerazzurri often start strongly and have enough quality in attack to settle the game early on.
However, I am much more cautious about the outcome of the game. Although I definitely believe Inter can win at home, it is extremely difficult to predict whether they will do so without conceding a goal or with one.
The Milanese side are particularly vulnerable at the back in the closing stages. That’s why I’m deliberately refraining from betting on the exact result – the risk is simply too high for me here.
Conclusion: Inter will win this game and there will be at least three goals – either through early pressing or late openings from Verona.
Those who are willing to take a risk should go for Inter with a handicap of -1. Those who prefer to play it safe should instead bet on an Inter win combined with a half-time lead.
The combination of home advantage, historical dominance and the unconditional will to make amends is simply too obvious to ignore.
Personally, however, I am going for what is probably the safest bet of all with my unconventional combination bet.
