Serie A Brazil Matchday 17, Monday, 07/28/2025, 01:30
Flamengo underlines its title ambitions! The Brazilian top club, which already impressed us at the Club World Cup, continues its strong performances. Another victory is firmly planned for the next home game.
In my Flamengo Atletico-MG prediction, I will take a close look at the top club from Rio de Janeiro and tell you why I am relatively confident of three more points – but also why I believe that the game on Monday night will not see more than four goals.
There was one team that managed to defeat Chelsea FC in the Club World Cup – and it wasn’t their final opponents PSG! Flamengo Rio de Janeiro played a fantastic preliminary round, only to lose 2-4 to Bayern Munich shortly afterwards.
Brazil thrilled the tournament, but immediately after the games ended, Serie A called them back. Flamengo has recorded three wins and one defeat since returning to the league, which isn’t bad.
Anyone who follows the team knows that the 2-4 defeat to Bayern Munich is not the benchmark in their own league from a defensive point of view. They have conceded only six goals in 15 games, which is unmatched by any other team.
How many goals have they conceded at home? Just one, and that was in their first home game of the season! So they haven’t conceded a goal at home since the end of March.
No wonder I’m looking at Betano for a bet on “Atletico-MG won’t score.” With odds of 1.70, it doesn’t seem that unlikely.
I also take a quick look at the “Flamengo to win to nil” bet, which is slightly higher at 2.00. At the start of this season, when they conceded their only home goal, Flamengo drew 1-1 with Internacional.
Since then, they have won all seven of their home games without conceding a goal. There’s no question that when this team plays at home, their opponents all tremble. In Giorgian de Arrascaeta, they have a very accurate striker who has already scored nine times in 13 games.
How are things looking for Atletico-MG? Are they facing a favorite or a feared opponent on Monday? Six wins, one draw and one defeat – the results of the last few matches look pretty positive.
Add to that four wins from the last five home games. When I read that, I automatically come to the conclusion that the average odds in our sports betting apps should be pretty clear, right?
That’s exactly how it is, with Flamengo going into the game at 1.45 to 8.00. How are their opponents doing? Are Atletico out of form? With five wins, five draws, and four losses, their season has been relatively mixed so far.
After a series of eight games without defeat, the team has now lost two games in a row, something that has not happened before this season.
1-2 against Bahia and 2-3 against Palmeiras, the defeats were very narrow. Does it matter that they lost away from home? With another away game coming up on Monday, this could be a negative omen.
Atletico have played eight away games so far, winning two of them. Juventude and Ceara were both beaten 1-0, and all four of their defeats this season have come away from home.
It is therefore perfectly understandable that Atletico-MG are going into the game as underdogs. They have also conceded at least two goals in five of their away games. So does the bet “Over 1.5 goals Flamengo” make sense?
With Betano odds of 1.75, it would certainly be a profitable bet for you. However, it should be noted that the home side have also finished three home games with less than two goals this season.
Flamengo want to be champions, no ifs, no buts! The Club World Cup quarter-finalists impressed the soccer world in the USA and can continue their good form in the league. The team loves playing at home anyway.
Defensively, there is nothing to complain about, with only one goal conceded, and that was back in March. The visitors from Belo Horizonte are in much worse form and have enormous problems away from home in particular.
That’s why I’m pretty sure that the points will stay in Rio de Janeiro. Since Flamengo defends so excellently, I’ll add a little extra and go with the Flamengo Atletico-MG tip:
Flamengo wins with under 4.5 goals!
