The UFC 319 Fight Card

The main card of the UFC 319 Fight Card begins with the flyweight battle between Tim Elliott and Kai Asakura. This will be followed by the featherweight duel between Jared Cannonier and Michael Page.
When the two are done with each other, welterweights Geoff Neal and Carlos Prates will enter the cage. After that, Lerone Murphy and Aaron Pico will battle it out in the featherweight division.
This will be followed by the middleweight title fight between reigning champion Dricus Du Plessis and challenger Khamzat Chimaev.
Dricus Du Plessis is the current UFC middleweight champion.
The 31-year-old South African won the title in January 2024 with a victory over Sean Strickland. Du Plessis has since defended his gold belt twice, most recently in February this year in a rematch against Strickland.
In between, Du Plessis also defeated Israel Adesanya in August 2024.
Overall, Du Plessis has won all nine of his UFC fights to date. In his entire MMA career, “Stillknocks” has a record of 23 wins from 26 fights.
Khamzat Chimaev could now crown his flawless MMA career with a title win at UFC 319.
The 31-year-old from the Russian region of Dagestan has won all 14 of his MMA fights to date. Eight of those have been in the UFC since 2020. Most recently, “Borz” defeated Robert Whittaker in October 2024.
Prior to that, Chimaev also prevailed against other well-known middleweight fighters such as Kamaru Usman, Kevin Holland, and Gilbert Burns.
Du Plessis and Chimaev head-to-head

If the UFC 319 prediction and the Du Plessis – Chimaev betting odds from the bookmakers are anything to go by, then it looks like there will be a changing of the guard in the middleweight division. Chimaev is sent into the cage as the clear favorite.
What speaks in favor of the Russian?
Like all Dagestani MMA fighters, Chimaev is not only difficult to break down on his feet, but he is also an excellent ground fighter.
Chimaev won six of his 14 MMA victories by submission, i.e. by his opponent giving up. He celebrated another six victories by knockout – but only two in the UFC.
However, Dricus Du Plessis is also very versatile and extremely strong on the ground. Almost half of his 23 victories came by submission (11). And he has won nine times by TKO or KO.
