Cerny leaves Wolfsburg for good

Cerny, Vaclav

 – VfL Wolfsburg
+ Besiktas JK

Vaclav Cerny did not play for VfL Wolfsburg last season, and now the two sides are parting ways for good: As VfL announced on Tuesday, the Czech winger is joining Besiktas Istanbul with immediate effect. The 27-year-old moved to the Wolves from Twente Enschede in the summer of 2023 and made 22 Bundesliga appearances (four goals) in his first season in a VfL jersey. He then spent 2024/25 on loan at Glasgow Rangers, with whom he also played internationally in the Europa League and scored six goals in twelve games. VfL will receive a transfer fee of seven million euros for Cerny, whose contract in Wolfsburg was due to run until June 2027.
