Toni Leistner has been one of the absolute cornerstones of Stefan Leitl’s backline so far this season. The central defender was in the starting line-up in all twelve league games and has recently impressed with good performances. The future of the 35-year-old is nevertheless uncertain: His contract expires at the end of the season. Leistner told the “Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung”: “Hertha BSC will definitely be my last club”. He wants to make whether he extends his contract dependent on his physical condition. “Right now, the body feels good. But it can look completely different at the end of the season.”
