FSV Mainz 05 and Bo Henriksen have drawn consequences from the sporting downturn and announced the joint separation on Wednesday afternoon. “Unfortunately, there are always developments in football that make a reorientation necessary for sporting reasons,” said sporting director Christian Heidel on the decision and thanked the Dane. He had taken over the team in February 2024 in a relegation place and still led them to stay in the league. In the following season, the 05ers even managed to qualify for the Conference League under the 50-year-old with 6th place. After the most recent 4-0 defeat in Freiburg, however, FSV fell to 18th place. U-23 coach Benjamin Hoffmann will take over training on an interim basis for the time being.
