Arsenal – Atletico Madrid Tip Champions League semi-finals, second leg on Tuesday, 05/05/2026 at 21:00

In the semi-final second leg of the Champions League, the first finalist will be determined tonight – who may even meet Bayern in Budapest soon.

My Arsenal Atletico Madrid tip focuses on an entertaining encounter. In contrast to the bookmakers, however, I do not commit to a clear favorite in the course of my semi-final prediction.

Instead, I’m counting on both teams to score at the Emirates. In the first meeting, there were “only” penalty goals, but the chances for more goals were definitely there on both sides. The combined xG value of 3.42 would have deserved a noticeably higher final score than the 1:1!

there are odds of about 1.90 for the tip “Both teams to score”. Atletico showed in the first leg with the higher-quality scoring opportunities that they can crack the London defense and should therefore not be underestimated in London!

After all, the somewhat disgusting style of play of the Rojiblancos pays off, especially against the absolute top teams in Europe, as FC Barcelona felt again this season in the quarter-finals.

The draw in Madrid leaves everything open for the second leg anyway. At the Emirates Stadium, the pressure is on the Gunners, who will have to put in a better performance than in the Spanish capital to keep their chances of winning the title.

The Gunners are considered favourites due to the home advantage and the clear 4-0 victory in the league phase. But Atletico will travel confidently after the success against Barcelona and should by no means be underestimated – especially since the gunners are considered to be rather weak nerves in decisive games.

However, the balance sheet of the “Colchoneros” in England is bleak. This season, they lost all three games on the island against Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham with a goal difference of 4:10. That could be a psychological factor tonight…

Arsenal – Atletico Madrid Prediction & Betting

Another interesting bet is an Arsenal Atletico Madrid bet on another draw at high odds of about 3.90 at the top. The first leg ended 1-1 and a close game is to be expected this time as well.

Nevertheless, the “Rojiblancos” were always able to find ways to put the English under massive pressure. The Spaniards know how to play for results and will make it difficult for Arsenal. A decision in extra time or in a penalty shoot-out is therefore also very conceivable.

Especially for this scenario, I have a very bold tip in store for you, but it would be worth a try at odds of around 13.50 – and that is Atletico wins on penalties.

Arsenal – Atletico Madrid: AI Tip & Odds Analysis

Our AI tool hangs the clear favorite role around the Gunners’ neck. The probability of a home win for the Arteta team is 60.4%. A draw is valued at 22.2%, while a win for Atletico only gets a 17.4% chance.

The predicted goal numbers reflect this. The tool expects 1.76 goals for the home side and only 0.86 for the Rojiblancos. The total number of expected goals in the match is therefore 2.62, which plays into the cards of my Arsenal Atletico Madrid tip!

Meanwhile, the Asian Handicap Line has been set at -0.75 for Arsenal. This means that the Gunners must win by at least one goal for bets on them to be successful.

The Asian Handicap Line for goals is 2.5. To win with a bet on “Over 2.5” at odds of around 1.89, at least three goals must be scored in the match. With two or fewer goals, on the other hand, Asian Handicap bets on “Under 2.5” to 1.84 would be successful.

In the goal scorer bets, Viktor Gyökeres is calculated to have an implied probability of 42% to score at any time. On the other side, the chance for Alexander Sorloth to enter the scorer list is estimated at 28%.

The Arsenal Atletico Madrid odds for the selection Gyökeres scores are currently 2.40 and are declared by our data model as slightly valuable, an assessment that I share all around.

The best odds for Arsenal vs. Atletico Madrid

The odds reflect Arsenal’s role as favourites. A home win is quoted with an average of about 1.58, which is mainly due to the home advantage and the dominant 4-0 in the league phase. But caution is advised.

Atletico Madrid has much more experience in the decisive phases of the Champions League. After all, Diego Simeone’s team is an unpleasant opponent who knows how to make life difficult for favourites.

A draw is therefore by no means ruled out. The 1-1 draw in the first leg showed how balanced this duel is. The pressure of expectations at the Emirates Stadium could also put the home team under a lot of pressure.

An away win for the Spaniards would be a surprise, but with odds of around 5.25, it is not exactly considered impossible. With their defensive stability and offensive efficiency, they can strike at any time, especially when Arsenal get nervous.

Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid Match Analysis:

The first leg was characterized by tactics, with both teams avoiding risks. Arsenal dominated the first half, while Atletico became stronger after the break. A similarly close game is to be expected in the second leg.

At the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal have been strong this season, especially in the Champions League. But the pressure to reach the final could lead to nervousness. A sweeping victory like in the league phase is therefore unlikely.

Set pieces will again play a decisive role. Arsenal is the most dangerous team in the Premier League after stationary balls, while Atletico has its strengths here in the Champions League.

Arsenal has the best defence in the Champions League with only 0.42 goals conceded per game. However, Atletico proved in the first leg with 18 shots that they can cause problems for the defense of Mikel Arteta’s team.

Although many expect a defensive game, an early lead could open the game. Atletico’s Champions League games this season have averaged 4.29 goals, which gives hope for an entertaining second leg.

Arsenal are expected to have more possession than the 48% in the first leg. However, Atletico has already shown against Barcelona that they can be dangerous even without much possession and will probably lie in wait for counterattacks.

Arsenal Form Check

Arsenal are fighting on two fronts and are under pressure in the tight title race with Manchester City. Although the Gunners have won only two of their last eight competitive games, their strong defence carried them through this phase.

Thanks to the 1-1 draw in Madrid, Arsenal have equalled the club record of 13 unbeaten games in the Champions League. Their knockout games were very low-scoring, which points to another close duel.

New signing Viktor Gyökeres, meanwhile, is in top form and has already scored 19 goals this season. His penalty in Madrid was decisive for an offense that had stalled somewhat in recent weeks.

Mikel Arteta could make some changes to the starting XI. Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka are pushing into the team, while captain Martin Odegaard, who is struggling with fitness, could get a break.

Goalkeeper David Raya, however, was undoubtedly the hero of the first leg, as he prevented 1.22 expected goals from being conceded (!). His performance and a disciplined defence secured Arsenal a good starting position for the second leg in London.

Fatigue could also be a factor, as this is already the 58th game of the season for the Gunners. Unlike Atletico, Arsenal cannot afford to rest players because they are still in the fight for the title.

Atletico Madrid form check

Atletico Madrid go into the second leg as outsiders, but with self-confidence. After a 1-1 draw at home, in which they scored a strong xG value of 2.22, they have to overcome their weak away record in England.

The contrast is clear: the Spaniards are strong at home, but they lost all three games in England this season. In total, they were only able to win five of 23 games on English soil.

Atletico could also play a role in fatigue, as they have already played 56 games this season. However, unlike Arsenal, they have recently been able to rest important players in the league.

Diego Simeone may travel to London with a decimated squad. Several players, including Giuliano Simeone and Nicolas Gonzalez, were injured in the first leg and could be sidelined.

Despite recent problems against Premier League teams, the Colchoneros are “semi-final specialists” and have progressed in six of their last seven European semi-finals. That gives them self-confidence.

Their impressive run of twelve Champions League games in a row with goals of their own shows that they are capable of overcoming even one of the best defensive lines in Europe. That will be the key.
