HSV – Freiburg Tip Bundesliga, Matchday 33 on Sunday, 10/05/2026 at 15:30 CET
The Breisgau is upside down, because the sports club has actually made it to the final of the Europa League! Meanwhile, with my Hamburg Freiburg tip, I concentrate on their penultimate Bundesliga appearance.
Qualifying for the Champions League via the cup path is possible, but in order not to go away empty-handed in the event of a defeat in Istanbul, at least seventh place should be defended.
In the meantime, I commit myself to a bet that promises odds of about 1.93 for the double selection Over 2.5 goals & both teams score at Oddset. In any case, I didn’t have to think long about this combination bet!
Because in ten of HSV’s last twelve Bundesliga games, goals have been scored on both sides. In addition, the last three direct duels each ended with results that met the two conditions equally!
The Hanseatic team is currently in twelfth place in the table and already has relegation safely in the bag. For them, it is only a matter of saying goodbye to their own fans with a home win, which is always a special motivation.
Freiburg, on the other hand, is in seventh place and is only one point ahead of pursuer Frankfurt. The Breisgau team comes straight from the semi-final second leg of the Europa League against Braga, which could make fatigue a factor influencing the defence.
HSV – Freiburg Prediction & Betting
Another interesting option is the bet on 1st half: Over 1.5 goals to HSV Freiburg betting odds of 2.50. The sports club could prefer a cautious start, but the Hanseatic team tends to tighten the pace early on!
It is therefore probably no coincidence that exactly this condition has been fulfilled in each of their last four Bundesliga appearances. This was also the case in the 2-1 win over Frankfurt, when all three goals were scored before the break.
A home win bet for Hamburg could also be worth considering. Freiburg often struggles away from home and the double burden could take its toll.
As I said: I can imagine goals very well, but physically the SCF is not at 100%. That’s why I would rather put my money on the Northern Lights in case of doubt!
What you need to consider when betting on HSV vs Freiburg
- Hamburg have lost only three of their last 12 home games, all against top-6 teams.
- Freiburg’s defence is statistically better than the 53 goals conceded suggest (fourth-best xGA value).
- In the last four HSV games, more than 2.5 goals have always been scored – that’s a season record.
- Hamburg’s top scorer Fabio Vieira only needs six goals for the internal lead.
HSV – Freiburg: AI Tip & Odds Analysis
The computer-aided evaluation of the match provides exciting insights: Our calculations assign the Breisgau team a slight role as favourites and put the sports club’s chance of success at 39.5%.
A home win at the Volkspark is weighted at 35.2%, while the probability of a points split is 25.3%.
Based on these numbers, the algorithm spits out an HSV Freiburg AI forecast that does not necessarily correlate with my personal perception – at least as far as the result is concerned.
Specifically, a bet on a draw is proposed, an option that I would classify as absolutely in line with the market with betting odds around 3.65. Although I would prefer a bet on HSV, this proposal is at least fair in view of the potentially high payout.
The predicted number of goals is particularly revealing. The tool expects a total of 2.75 goals, with Hamburg at 1.35 and Freiburg at 1.40 expected goals. These numbers clearly support my main bet on Over 2.5 goals and goals on both sides.
In view of these facts, our algorithm acts a bit more risk-averse than yours truly and advises without further ado to bet on more than 3.5 hits.
With betting odds in the range of 2.72, this could actually degenerate into a highly entertaining match – provided that the goal opportunities are consistently exploited!
For those who like it a little riskier, however, the variant HSV scores in both halves at 3.40 is certainly not a foolhardy action. The possibility of such a course is always there!
The best odds for HSV vs. Freiburg
A look at the Hamburg Freiburg betting odds shows that the guests are only slightly outsiders despite their mixed away record. The double burden of the Europa League does not seem to worry the bookmakers too much.
Hamburg’s chances of a home win, on the other hand, are rated as realistic at 2.75, but not as likely. Their home record is solid, but with only three wins from the last twelve games at the Volksparkstadion, they lack the consistency to go into the game as clear favourites.
A draw is also a very conceivable scenario. Hamburg often draws at home, and Freiburg could be satisfied with a point after their European performance. The rather high odds of 3.70 for a draw therefore offer a certain value for your bets.
My opinion: The uncertainty in the 1X2 market makes goal-based betting all the more attractive. Since it is difficult to predict a clear winner, betting on Over 2.5 Goals & Both Goals is a logical and statistically sound alternative for this duel.
HSV vs Freiburg Match Analysis:
For Hamburg, this last home game is about ending the season on a positive note and giving the fans a victory. Freiburg, on the other hand, urgently needs the points to defend seventh place and thus the Conference League starting place against Frankfurt and Augsburg.
I expect HSV to try to control the game from the start. With Fabio Vieira in midfield, they have a creative mind who can set the scene for strikers Robert Glatzel and Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer and provide danger.
Freiburg under coach Julian Schuster is known for a disciplined organization. They will probably act in a wait-and-see manner, only to switch quickly after Hamburg lose the ball and use the resulting spaces for counterattacks.
The tactical duel will focus on how Freiburg plays HSV’s high-up full-backs. If Hamburg loses the ball in the build-up to the game, the Breisgau team will certainly want to take advantage of the gaps that present themselves.
The game is made even more explosive by the recent form curves. Hamburg is winless in five home games and is determined to end this streak. Freiburg are without a win in four games across all competitions and also want to stop the negative trend.
We can expect a fascinating duel between two teams with different motivations. Hamburg wants to defeat the home curse, Freiburg wants to crown the season. That promises excitement and hopefully also the goals we expect on both sides of the field.
HSV Form Check
The goal of the season for Hamburger SV was to stay in the league, and this goal was achieved confidently. Before the last matchday, they have a comfortable cushion of eight points on the relegation place and can play freely, which often leads to goals.
The newly promoted team was particularly convincing at home and scored 61.7% of its points at the Volksparkstadion. With only five home defeats in the entire season, the arena has proven to be a real fortress, even if things haven’t gone so well recently.
Despite the solid home record, there is room for improvement. The team has drawn too often, which has prevented a better position. Against Freiburg, they now finally want to get three points in front of their own fans again.
One problem was the lack of creativity in the offensive. The xG value of 37.99 is the second lowest in the entire Bundesliga. Only one team has scored fewer goals this season than Hamburger SV.
However, the most recent victory in Frankfurt was an important liberating blow after three defeats in a row. The team wants to use this momentum to end the season with a positive feeling and to give the fans a conciliatory farewell.
The lack of a real goalscorer has been a shortcoming throughout the season. Fabio Vieira leads the internal scorer list with only six goals. This finishing weakness is a point that the club will certainly address in the summer.
Freiburg Form Check
Freiburg’s adventure in Europe has had a noticeable impact on their performances in the Bundesliga. The team was unable to build on the impressive form of the previous season, which is understandable given the double burden.
Nevertheless, Julian Schuster’s team is in seventh place in the table and has the chance to qualify for Europe again. That alone is a great success and shows the quality that is in the squad despite the many English weeks.
The defensive statistics indicate that Freiburg was a bit unlucky. With an xGA value of 45.72, they have the fourth-best defence in the league, but have already conceded 53 goals. So the defense is basically more stable than the numbers suggest.
In any case, the sports club is having a hard time away from home. The Breisgau team only scored 34% of their points away from home. Scoring goals in particular causes them problems on foreign grounds, which limits their position in the away table to eleventh place.
This game will take place immediately after the energy-sapping semi-finals in the Europa League. Fatigue could therefore be a decisive factor, which could have a particular impact on concentration and defensive stability.
The last away game in the league ended, by the way, with a clear 4-0 thrashing in Dortmund. Coach Julian Schuster will demand a clear reaction from his team in order not to end the season with another disappointment on a foreign pitch.
