Tennis tips today – Matches today from 07.08.
Alexander Zverev has unfortunately been eliminated from the Canadian Open, but the I still want to follow the tournament in Montreal until the end! Especially since it one or the other odds boost to the remaining games in it!

Tennis Tips Today – 07.08.2026 Showdown in Montreal

Montreal Tips today 07.08.: Tien – Paul (18:30)
This will be an epic duel between the two Americans! The 20-year-old Tien asserted himself in the sixteenth finals after a strong Fighting performance with 6:3, 0:6, 6:3 against Gael Monfils, where he mainly won in the deciding set.
Tommy Paul solved his task against the Frenchman Valentin Royer with 6:4, 7:6 through an enormously stable service performance, in which he scored 74 percent of the points via the first service. Where the boy serves, grows just no more grass!
In the only direct duel between the two Americans so far, Paul in February 2026 in the semi-finals in Delray Beach in three sets with 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Paul brings the more consistent service game, but Tien’s quality in long rallies from the baseline again leaves a hard-fought match over three sets or with at least one tiebreak. Nevertheless, I see I the serve monster just ahead in the end!
My tip: Tommy Paul in possibly three full sets!
Montreal Tips today 07.08.: Ruud – Fonseca (18:30)
The duel of the generations in the sixteenth finals of the National Bank Open is certain: Clay court lover Casper Ruud challenges Brazil’s Shooting star Joao Fonseca out!
Casper Ruud left absolutely nothing to be desired in his first round match and humiliated Juan Manuel Cerundolo with a smooth 6-1, 6-2. The Norwegian served brutally efficiently, grabbed a whopping four break chances and gave did not give up a single break point over the entire match.
Joao Fonseca, on the other hand, had to flex his muscles against Stefanos Tsitsipas The 19-year-old Brazilian fired 8 aces over the net, used his chances ice-cold in the decisive phases and showed the favored Greeks 7-6, 7-5.
In May 2026, by the way, both played at the French Open epic round of 16 on Court Philippe-Chatrier, the Fonseca surprisingly won in four sets (7:5, 7:6, 5:7, 6:2).

Montreal Tips today 07.08.: Griekspoor – Arnaldi (18:30)
In the 3rd round of Montreal, the Dutch percussionist Tallon Griekspoor and Italy’s perennial favourite Matteo Arnaldi.
Griekspoor has already caused a gigantic sensation and bowled the German number one Alexander Zverev after a spectacular battle of attrition with 6:7, 6:2, 6:4 out of the tournament, whereby his strong serve served as a “joker”.
Matteo Arnaldi, on the other hand, did not pay any attention to the Canadian surface either and forced the Hungarian Fabian Marozsan in a tough three-set thriller to their knees.
The Italian proved impressive transition qualities and converted his chances with a cool head in the deciding set to energy-sapping exchange of blows on the baseline.
In a direct comparison, by the way, it is 1-0 for Arnaldi: The only meeting between the two was in May 2026 at the French Open, where the Italian played on clay after a thrilling four-set battle (6-7, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3) and Griekspoor’s offensive drive defused.
Nevertheless, shortly after the monumental triumph over Zverev, the Dutchman on a wave of self-confidence – his penetrating power on the fast hard court of Montreal is likely to tip the scales this time in his favor.
My tip: The Dutchman uses the momentum!
Montreal Tips today 07.08.: Atmane – Mensik (16:00)
Also in Montreal, the French power package meets Terence Atmane on the Czech Republic’s tennis comet Jakub Mensik. Atmane burned in the first round off both a true hard court firework!
After a three-set opening victory over the British ex-top 4 player Jack Draper conjured up the French glue in the 2nd round position 21 seeded Karen Khachanov 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) from the court and kept a cool head, especially in the tiebreak.
Jakub Mensik also bought his ticket for the round of 32 in impressive manner. The 20-year-old giant proved his second-round success against Britain’s Jacob Fearnley veterans and underpinned his strong hard court form.
The bottom line is that Mensik has the more mature playing style and brings the necessary return class with Atmane’s service cannonade in the crucial baseline rallies.
My tip: Mensik should have the upper hand without drama!
Montreal Tips today 07.08.: Popyrin – Tirante (16:00)
In the sixteenth finals of the National Bank Open, the Service cannon Alexei Popyrin and Argentina’s surprise man Thiago Agustín Tirante. Popyrin walked extremely confidently in the opening round and fired Raphael Collignon 6-4, 6-3 from the hard court.
The Australian unleashed 10 aces and converted a strong 84 percent of his points over the first serve in direct exclamation marks.
Thiago Agustín Tirante, on the other hand, provided a monumental sensation and eliminated the seventh-seeded US star Taylor Fritz 7-5, 6-3.
The 25-year-old South American ignited a service firework of the Top class, slammed 9 aces into the field and won an incredible 96 percent of the points when the first service was right.
After the victory against Fritz, Tirante is riding a wave of Euphoria. But Popyrin’s huge hard court routine and his brute force Penetrating power on the serve should be difficult in a hard-fought three-set thriller finally tipped the scales. But it will be very tight!
My tip: Tirante loses narrowly in three long sets!
Toronto Tips today 07.08.: Andreeva – Fernandez (16:00)
In the 2nd round at the National Bank Open in Toronto, the electrifying showdown between the newly minted French Open winner Mirra Andreyeva and Canada’s crowd favourite Leylah Fernandez.
Andreeva, who is seeded fifth, is aiming for the Canadian hard court, while Fernandez enthusiastic crowd behind them to cut down the favourite.
Andrejewa, however, swept over like a whirlwind in her opening game and gave the Czech service giant Karolina Pliskova in the flawless 6-0, 6-2 a lesson.
The 19-year-old Russian showed no signs of rust, gilded bombastic 77 percent of her first serves and converted six of her eight Break chances with surgical precision.
Andreyeva’s tremendous baseline dominance and her return qualities should dissect Fernandez’s service games from the beginning and effectively neutralize the Canadian’s vociferous home advantage.
My tip: Despite support, Fernandez has no chance!
