Willy Sagnol is no longer coach of the Georgian national team with immediate effect. This was announced by the association on Saturday. The 49-year-old Frenchman, who played 184 Bundesliga games for FC Bayern Munich in his playing career, took over at the Georgians in February 2021 and coached them in 58 international matches. Their greatest success was their first participation in a European Championship finals in Germany in the summer of 2024, where they even reached the round of 16. The 1-0 defeat against Northern Ireland on Friday was Sagnol’s last game. His successor will be the previous U-21 coach Ramaz Svanadze (45).
