Jamal Musiala is one of the biggest soccer diamonds of our time – not only in the Germany Euro 2024 squad, but now even worldwide.
In spring 2021, he was still spoiled for choice: Germany or England? Musiala could have played for either national team, but ultimately he opted for Germany.
“I thought a lot about this question. What’s best for my future? In the end, I just listened to my gut feeling, which told me it would be better in the long term to play for Germany.”
The highly talented youngster is Germany’s hopeful for winning the title at EURO 2024 in his home country.
But who is Jamal Musiala in private when he’s not working his magic on the pitch?

Jamal Musiala origins & parents
Jamal Musiala was born in Stuttgart. His mother Carolin has German-Polish roots, his father Daniel Richard comes from Nigeria. Due to his mother Carolin’s studies, the family moved to Fulda in eastern Hesse when Jamal was still a toddler.
He started playing club soccer at TSV Lehnerz in the north-east of the city in 2008 when he was just five years old, just as the local club was preparing to replace the struggling traditional club Borussia Fulda as the city’s sporting number one.
At the age of seven, he and his family had to move again in the fall of 2010. The reason: his mother moved to England. To Southampton

He also wanted to play soccer on the island. But his search for a club was unsuccessful. It was only when he took part in a vacation camp that he came to the attention of scouts from Southampton FC, who took him into their youth academy.
In the City Championship, he attracted the interest of Chelsea FC. The problem, however, was that his mother Carolin’s semester abroad had come to an end, so he returned to Fulda.
The following spring, however, the final move to England followed – and Musiala immediately started playing for Chelsea. “There were various reasons that led to this decision,” Carolin explained at the time.
“Of course, it was important that I found a job. And after many applications, I got the most feedback from the Chelsea area. “Jamal is also happy. He is very proud that he can play there.”
And Jamal Musiala immediately hit the Chelsea youth team like a bomb.
In the first game against Birmingham, which Chelsea won emphatically, the “soccer prodigy” from East Hesse scored four goals. He won three Premier League school tournaments with his school and became top scorer twice.
He was called up to the England U15 national team at the age of 13 and also played nine times for England’s U16s.
This is how Jamal Musiala’s Bayern career began
The fact that he is not still playing for the Blues on the island is down to personal reasons and Brexit.
The second argument in particular was decisive for the now 16-year-old Jamal Musiala returning to Germany with his family in 2019 after eight years in England – and thus moving to FC Bayern Munich.
The transfer also went through thanks to advisor Bradley Hudson-Odoi, brother of Chelsea talent Callum, who was in talks with the German serial champions at the same time.
“There were a few interested parties in Europe, but I’ve always loved Bayern from a young age. And when a big club like that in Germany is interested, you can’t say no. ”

The Musiala Bayern records
In the U17 Bundesliga team, Jamal Musiala was immediately given the number 10 shirt, and his coach at the time was none other than the most successful World Cup goalscorer of all time, Miroslav Klose.
After just a few months, he made the leap to the U19s, from where he quickly progressed via the U23s straight to the Bundesliga.
On June 20, in a 3:1 win against SC Freiburg, Jamal Musiala became Bayern’s youngest Bundesliga debutant in the club’s history at the age of 17 years and 115 days.
He had to cede this record to new Bayern super talent Paul Wanner on January 7, 2022, who at 16 years and 15 days is now the youngest Bundesliga player in Bayern history.
But Musiala still has two other records to his name: he scored against Schalke in the 2021 season opener, making him the youngest Bayern goalscorer in Bundesliga history. On February 23, “Bambi” then set the next exclamation mark:
At 17 years and 363 days, he is now Bayern’s youngest goalscorer in the Champions League.
Jamal Musiala salary & contract
It was clear from the outset that FC Bayern wanted to keep its jewel, who has now set three major club records, for the long term. He signed his first professional contract with Bayern Munich just in time for his 18th birthday.
The current contract runs until 2026, instead of just 2022, and is the highest-paid contract for an 18-year-old at Säbener Straße to date. According to Sportbild, it will earn him a total of 25 million euros.
Jamal Musiala’s salary at FC Bayern is said to be around 6 million euros per year.
Extrapolated, Musiala’s salary is around 500,000 euros per month. Bambi” earns around 115,000 euros per week at FC Bayern
Musiala salary per year, month, week & day
With all the bonuses and premiums, Musiala Bayern’s salary could be even higher. However, there is still a lot missing from the top earners – such as Leroy Sane’s annual salary.
Other Bayern regulars such as Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka are also well ahead of Musiala’s salary in the Bayern salary rankings.
However, the highly talented youngster is not yet really rich, despite his annual Bayern salary in the millions. Musiala’s fortune is still in the making. But if his sporting career continues at this rate, it will also increase rapidly.
The funny thing is that when he signed the new Bayern contract on his 18th birthday, Musiala had a lucrative professional contract with Bayern Munich in his pocket, but not yet a driver’s license.
Until then, his mother Carolin drove him to training at Säbener Straße every day – not in a luxury car, but in a slightly older VW Polo (type 6C, 90 hp)!
The new salary could soon help with that

Musiala played for Germany at the 2021 European Championship and came on as a substitute in the third group match.
He has already played his first international match at the start of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. He came on for Kai Havertz in the 78th minute of the 4-0 win against Iceland.
It could have been different: In November 2020, Musiala was still on the pitch for the England U-21 national team in the European Championship qualifier against Andorra.
The fact that Musiala is now playing for Germany, however, is primarily due to the helpful and committed efforts of Joachim Löw, who convinced him in January in long, intensive talks of a career in the German national team.
Musiala is Löw’s legacy, so to speak. Now national coach Hansi Flick will be delighted with him. And hopefully the whole of footballing Germany will too.
