14 teams will take part in the DEL season 2024/25.
Each team plays two home and two away games against each other team in the main round. This means that each team plays 52 games in the regular season (also known as the main round).
The top ten teams in the main round qualify for the DEL playoffs.
This is how the 2024 DEL playoffs will work: the teams ranked seventh to tenth in the final standings will play in the first playoff round in a best-of-three format.
The winners of this round, along with the teams ranked 1st to 6th in the final standings, will contest the quarterfinals, which, like the other rounds, will be played in a best-of-seven format.
The last team in the main round is relegated to the DEL2, provided that the DEL2 champion applies for and receives the DEL license.
