Champions League, Wednesday, 02.10.2024 at 21:00
Start the Champions League with a 2-1 win over Barca? You can do that! Start the Champions League with a 2-9 defeat against Bayern Munich? You should avoid that at all costs! In my Dinamo Zagreb Monaco betting tip, I now look at two teams that couldn’t be in more different moods.
The Croatians have promptly changed their coach and will naturally want to be much more solid defensively in the second match. Nevertheless, I have decided to bet on an Over 1.5 goals combined with the Double Chance X2.
I looked for the corresponding odds of just under 1.50 in the Betano app. If they’re too low for you, you can of course also add an away win to the over 1.5 goals and the value would be nice to be close to 2.00.
The general Dinamo Zagreb Monaco odds, by the way, which is certainly no surprise, come in at an average of 1.70 to 4.50 from the guests’ point of view. With a second win, they could secure a place in the upper reaches of the table.
The way both teams started in the Champions League, it is of course very exciting to see whether they will continue on their respective paths. Reason enough to get to the bottom of it all in my analysis.
The bookmakers’ forecast
In view of the results of the first match day, it is only logical that the bookmakers favor the Monegasques for this duel. If you bet on an away win, the odds reach 1.70.
This quickly shows that Dinamo Zagreb are once again in the role of the underdog – as they almost always are in the Champions League. This time, the average betting odds go up to 4.50.
Zagreb could probably live with a draw a little better, but nobody could really do anything with it. What do the odds say? If there is actually a tie, 4.00 is due.
How does ChatGPT handle this encounter? If we believe the bookmakers, Monaco is clearly favored after all. That’s exactly what goes into the tips I got from the AI.
Let’s first look at the one that carries a high risk and that is: at halftime it’s a draw, in the end Monaco wins. In my opinion, this bet is quite possible, because I expect a close result for Monaco overall.
At medium risk, ChatGPT refers to the away win despite a 0-1 handicap – Dinamo are still under the impression of the 2-9 defeat against Bayern. I would actually be a bit more cautious here, because I expect a reaction in their own stadium.
An Over 2.5 goals is more than likely for the AI – certainly another reference to that 2:5. But since AS also scored twice against Barcelona, I definitely consider this tip to be quite likely.
Analysis: Dinamo Zagreb vs Monaco
Nenad Bjelica thanks FC Bayern! A few months after the former Union Berlin coach was released by the Irons, he signed on with Dinamo Zagreb, and did so directly after his new club’s 2-9 defeat to the German record champions.
For the Croats, the trip to the Bavarian capital had been considered dangerous from the outset, and there was great fear of a false start. After the break, it actually looked as if they might even be able to pull off an upset.
Two quick goals made it 2:3, but then Dinamo made the mistake of wanting to play along. Nine goals against, even the long-suffering fans had never experienced that.
At least in the league, where there had also been two real setbacks in the form of a 0-1 defeat to Hajduk Split and a 1-4 defeat to Slaven Belupo, the change of coach had already had a small positive effect.
Odds Analysis
I favor, as I am fully with the betting providers, the guests from Monaco. Since they have already started well against Barca, I can also imagine the bet of the 1-0 lead for the second match, which is rewarded with odds of 1.55.
A second suggested bet goes in a similar direction, and here too the risk is limited. It is a bet that Monaco will score a goal in both halves, for which you get odds of 1.52.
As a result bet, I would prefer a 1:2. I believe that Dinamo will fight and leave their heart on the pitch! If it actually comes to this result, you can get odds of 8.25 at Bwin.
Dinamo Zagreb vs. Monaco: Same result as in match day 1?
Dinamo won 5-1 against Lokomotiva, what a comeback! Of course, everyone knows that AS Monaco is in a completely different league, but the comfortable victory was still worth its weight in gold for the team’s confidence.
The offensive department is back from its brief fall depression, and after all, it scored twice against Bayern Munich. Of course, I don’t have to tell you at this point that victories in the premier class are in short supply.
This will be the first-ever tie against AS Monaco; the team has faced a club from France 19 times before. With four wins, three draws and 12 defeats, the record is anything but successful.
Monaco, not surprisingly, is therefore the strong favorite going into the game. No wonder, after all, they beat FC Barcelona 2-1! True, the Monegasques also benefited from the fact that Barca were reduced to ten men from the tenth minute onwards.
And yet, when the score was 1-1, you still have to be cool to score the decisive goal, even against ten Catalans. George Ilenikhena was responsible for that, Maghnes Akliouche had scored goal number one.
It’s going well for the Monegasques, not only in Europe. The team started the league with three wins and a draw, scoring eight goals in the last three games alone.
The 2004 Champions League finalist wants to reach the knockout phase of the premier class for the first time since 2017, but the new format has definitely not made it any easier to predict.
AS had to wait six years to finally hear the CL anthem again, and then it was a 2-1 win against Barcelona. Admittedly, a trip to Zagreb seems a little less attractive, but it is all the more important to keep your concentration high.
My Dinamo Zagreb Monaco Tip:
If you go by the results of the first match day, the prognosis can only be: Monaco should win easily against Dinamo Zagreb! At least I quickly decided that there shouldn’t be a home win and the double chance X2 will take effect.
Unfortunately, I can only offer a few positive facts about Dinamo’s defense. Furthermore, Monaco is really strong (and possibly even more variable) even after the departure of Wissam Ben Yedder.
Therefore, I do not think that we can expect a boring game on Wednesday, in which goals will be in short supply. Since I expect the guests to score one or three points, I have set up the following combination:
Monaco scores over 1.5 goals!
