Who are the participants in the Six Kings Slam 2024?

Six players are taking part in the first edition of the Six Kings Slam.

As this is an invitational tournament, there are no sporting criteria for participation. Nevertheless, the list of Six Kings 2024 participants includes six of today’s best tennis players.

The Six Kings 2024 participants

  • Jannik Sinner (ITA)
  • Carlos Alcaraz (ESP)
  • Novak Djokovic (SRB)
  • Dannil Medvedev (RUS)
  • Holger Rune (DEN)
  • Rafael Nadal (ESP)

Leading the field, if you like, by two of the best players of all time – Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

Djokovic is still active (currently number 4 in the ATP world rankings, most recently in the final at the Masters in Shanghai) and, with his 24 Grand Slam victories (99 ATP titles in total), he is already considered the most successful tennis player of all time. He more than lives up to the title of this show tournament.

Nadal will end his sporting career at the end of the year for health reasons. However, he apparently still has enough strength to take part in the Six Kings Slam 2024 show tournament. Nadal has not played an official singles match since the end of July when he lost to Djokovic at the Olympics.

However, in view of his sporting success (22 Grand Slam titles, including 14 French Open titles and 209 weeks at number 1 in the world rankings), Nadal is undoubtedly one of the “Kings” of tennis history.

It is also a fact that this will be Nadal’s penultimate appearance on a major tennis stage.

Who else will be in Riyadh?

In addition to the two former champions, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will also be in Riyadh as Six Kings 2024 participants. The duo are ranked first and second in the world rankings and have each won two Grand Slam tournaments this year.

Daniil Medvedev is also part of the desert tennis show. The Russian is currently number 5 in the ATP rankings. He has won one Grand Slam title in his career (2021 US Open) and has also been number 1 in the world rankings.

Holger Rune is the only one of the Six Kings Slam players 2024 who is still without a Grand Slam title. The Dane has not even won a Masters title yet and is currently 14th in the world rankings, not even in the top 10. So from a sporting point of view, why is he allowed to play with the real “tennis kings”?

Interesting: Alexander Zverev is missing from the list of Six Kings Slam 2024 participants. He is currently number 3 in the world rankings and has won the ATP Finals twice in his career.

Six Kings Slam Trailer

The six “Six Kings Slam 2024 participants are presented in an impressive promotional video reminiscent of the trailer for a Hollywood blockbuster.

Rafael Nadal as a clay fighter. Novak Djokovic as a wolf tamer. Carlos Alcaraz as a cyborg. Jannik Sinner as a renaissance artist. Daniil Medvedev as Bärenreiter and Holger Rune as a Viking.

It is probably the most expensive video production in tennis history – but money is no problem for the organizer. The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) can draw on the Saudi state fund PIF, which has a total volume of an estimated 650 billion euros.

The Six Kings schedule & Time: When does who play?

The schedule of the Six Kings Slam 2024 consists of a quarter-final, a semi-final, a third-place match and the final.

As the field consists of only six players, two players are already seeded for the semi-finals – Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

As a result, there are only two quarter-final matches, both of which will be played on Wednesday (16.10.) from 18:30. These will be contested by Jannik Sinner against Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune against Carlos Alcaraz.

The winner of Sinner/Medvedev will meet Djokovic in the semi-finals. The winner of Rune/Alcaraz will face Nadal in the semi-finals. The two semi-finals are scheduled for Thursday (17.10.).

There are no matches on Friday, so the Six Kings Slam schedule will continue on Saturday (19.10.). On this day, the match for third place will take place first (18:30), followed by the final from 20:30.

Then it will be decided who is the king among kings.

What is the prize money at the Six Kings Slam 2024?

The prize money at the Six Kings show tournament is higher than the earnings at a tournament of sporting value.

Each of the six Six Kings Slam participants collects an entry fee of 1.5 million euros. By comparison, the winner of the Masters tournament in Shanghai collects around 1.1 million US dollars. But you had to win the tournament to do so.

This is what the six players get

Whoever wins the desert show tournament can look forward to a winner’s prize of 6 million (!) euros. If you win the Grand Slam, you get about half that amount. However, this requires seven victories in two tournament weeks.

But there are no world ranking points in Riyadh. Only money. Lots of money
