If there were a yardstick for measuring the quality of a football team in Scottish soccer, it wouldn’t be long enough for Celtic Glasgow. At least not this season.
The Bhoys have the chance to win the domestic treble this weekend – against a team that has been in a real slump lately.

If his team wins, Brendan Rodgers will write himself into the history books of his current club. It would be his third treble with the Hoops – a first for a manager of this traditional club.
At national level, the Celts are in a league of their own. Celtic won their 55th championship extremely early. Their goal difference in the league competition (112:26) was a demonstration of power even by Scottish standards.
It is also worth taking a look at their previous results in the Scottish FA Cup. In just four appearances, Rodgers’ team scored 14 goals and conceded no more than one.
Added to this is the great season record against their opponents in the final. Celtic won four of the five season duels (1D), some with a large margin despite fielding a supposedly second-string team.
Take a look at the highlights from the two most recent encounters as examples. Both matches ended in a 5-1 victory for the Bhoys.
The huge difference in quality between these two teams is not something that has only emerged this season. Aberdeen have now gone 30 games without a win.
Furthermore, I don’t know if head coach Jimmy Thelin can get the recent poor results and performances out of his players’ heads.
Aberdeen have lost their last four competitive games in a row, conceding 12 goals in the process! Perhaps you should consider placing the Bwin bet for odds of 2.05 on “Celtic to score over 2.5 goals.”
The last time these two teams met in a knockout game was in this year’s League Cup semi-final. The Dons were completely outclassed by Rodgers’ side (0-6).
This is the first time Thelin’s team has reached the final since 2017. Back then, the Dons lost narrowly to Celtic (1-2). However, the success in the cup duel in 2014 is probably more suitable for a motivational video in the run-up to the match.
I categorically rule out a surprise in the Aberdeen Celtic Glasgow tip. Aberdeen’s form is simply not good enough for that. In the recently concluded championship round, they lost clearly to both of Glasgow’s top teams (1-5 vs. Celtic Glasgow, 0-4 vs. Glasgow Rangers).
At the start of the season, the Reds were still delivering the results needed to be considered a positive surprise. Aberdeen remained unbeaten until the 12th matchday.
However, this was followed by an unexpected slump and Jimmy Thelin’s team went 13 consecutive league games without a win. With 53 points, the Dons narrowly missed out on European competition in the end.
Brendan Rodgers’ team includes several players who can decide a game on their own. One of them is Nicolas Kühn, who has scored 36 points in 50 competitive games.
However, another Celtic attacking player has particularly caught the eye in the Scottish FA Cup. Daizen Maeda scored half (7) of Celtic’s goals on their way to the final (14).
The signs point to a one-sided final, with Celtic Glasgow comfortably winning. The Bhoys are currently dominating Scottish football and are well on their way to becoming a major force on the international stage once again.
In addition, their sometimes convincing victories in direct comparisons with Aberdeen have left a lasting impression on me. I therefore see no reason to bet against a clear victory for the favorites.
