After nine years as assistant coach alongside his father Carlo Ancelotti, who recently moved from Real Madrid to the Brazilian national team, Davide is taking his first steps as head coach with Brazilian champions Botafogo. The reigning Copa Libertadores champions from Rio de Janeiro parted ways with Portuguese coach Renato Paiva after their round of 16 exit from the Club World Cup and opted for the 35-year-old Italian as his successor. In 2016, Ancelotti led Bayern Munich to the title alongside his father. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is now in negotiations with Botafogo to allow Davide to take on the dual role of assistant to his father in the Selecao and club coach at Botafogo.
