It won’t come down to the record champions winning from start to finish on match day number one again, will it? If you are hoping for excitement in the Süper Lig, you probably won’t even like the current table that much.
The defending champions are once again at the top with irresistible statistics. It’s therefore not surprising that they are again seen as the clear favorites in the next match on Saturday. Why am I still betting on a BTS? I’ll tell you in my Antalyaspor Galatasaray tip!
How meaningful is the table if the two closest pursuers – this time presumably Fenerbahce AND Besiktas – have played a game less? I’ll put it this way: even if the duo each win the remaining game, Gala would still be two or three points ahead.
It’s still early days in the season, but the Lions have nothing to reproach themselves for apart from one small blemish. They have won seven of their eight games, only faltering in the 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa.
They were already leading 3-0 here, then completely lost their way and even conceded an equalizer at the last second. 24 goals? There is no one else scoring more, the average is exactly three.
After two games with two goals, three with three, and two with five, the reigning champions surprised before the international break. 1-0 against Alanyaspor – what happened there, did the offense have an attack malfunction?
18 shots, nine directly on the opposing goal, it was more the case that no second ball wanted to go into the goal. In fact, it was only the second time that Galatasaray had managed to keep a clean sheet.
A very interesting fact, because I can also report defensive weaknesses in the Europa League. At the beginning of the month, Gala were the clear favorites against RFS, but only managed a 2-2 draw.
The reason: sloppy defending, a wasted 2-0 lead and the fact that they got almost 80% possession but didn’t do nearly enough with it. So the opponents in the Süper Lig know: our current league leaders are not a real fortress.
Will the team be shocked to hear that Baris Alper Yilmaz is injured? After all, he is the top scorer in the domestic competition! The offense shares the responsibility fairly, with Yilmaz leading the way with four goals.
A total of nine stars have already scored at least twice, a unique statistic – and proof that Galatasaray is hard to beat offensively. However, in all three away games this season, they have also conceded goals, always just one.
Therefore, betting on Antalyaspor celebrating just once could pay off at Oddset. The odds for this jump up to 2.45.
speaking of which, what is the historical record when Gala face one of their many favorite opponents?
Since April 2016, they have not lost, this series includes twelve wins (eight of them to nil) and four draws! No question about it, the Lions really enjoy playing against Antalyaspor.
But: away games are always very close. 2-0, 1-0, 1-1, 1-0, 2-2, 1-0, 1-1, 3-2 – the last results from Antalya impressively show that Gala has to push themselves to the absolute limit to get three points.
Accordingly, it is hardly surprising that the guests are clearly in the lead with average odds of 1.35 to 8.75. Will Antalyaspor find any way to prevail?
The team started with two wins, two draws and four defeats, which of course does not scare Gala. With eight goals, the attack in particular is very harmless, with the next opponent scoring three times.
Before the international break, the team lost twice for the first time, and now the red-and-whites have to be careful not to add defeat number three to that. Well, at least three of the four defeats in 2024/25 were away from home.
Of course, I’m not surprised that Galatasaray is the clear favorite in Antalya. The Lions are in really good form again, scoring well, especially in offense, and can thus compensate for the fact that the defense has seen better days.
Antalyaspor may be an absolute favorite opponent, but I have also noticed that the champions tend to play VERY tightly in away games there. Fittingly, I have noticed that the home side scores late goals.
So I can well imagine that we will see a close game. It will be a match in which the underdog will certainly have chances, which is why the following tip may be suitable:
