Aston Villa – Tottenham Tip, Prediction & Odds 16.05.2025

Premier League, Friday, 16.05.2025 at 20:30

Aston Villa are in the thick of the battle for the Champions League places. Ahead of the start of matchday 37, Villa are in sixth place, level on points with Chelsea in fifth, with Newcastle and Man City also still within reach.

For the visitors, the weekend is all about preparing for the upcoming Europa League final. In my Aston Villa Tottenham betting tip, I am convinced that both teams will score, Interwetten provides the appropriate odds.

Only one of the two top clubs will have a good end to the season after all: Manchester United or Tottenham. The teams are currently only in 16th and 17th place, but relegation is certain.

However, only the winner of the Europa League final will secure a Champions League ticket, while the loser will go home empty-handed. Accordingly, Spurs’ focus is already on the next match ahead of the upcoming league game at Villa Park.

On the one hand, we can expect a few rotations at Harry Kane’s former club, but he will certainly not give up on this game. Spurs will want to show a reaction to the 2-0 defeat against Crystal Palace, boost their confidence ahead of the final and go into the final with a good feeling.

Two defeats in a row would only make the beleaguered club even more insecure. However, the Apple Pay betting providers don’t really have a point win on the cards. Aston Villa start as favorites at odds of around 1.37, Tottenham at 7.00, the draw at 5.50.

A classification that I go along with due to the visitors’ league situation, which has no sporting significance. However, they have the advantage of being able to play freely, while Aston Villa absolutely need the three points to qualify for the top flight and are therefore under pressure.

They have performed quite well in recent weeks, scoring two 1-0 victories against Fulham and Bournemouth. A week after the game against Tottenham, they face the other Europa League finalist, where the chances of three points should be similarly good.

Despite their poor points haul, Tottenham are a very uncomfortable opponent for the other Premier League teams. You have to get a grip on their offense first. With 63 goals, Spurs have scored the fifth most, seven more than the Villans.

In the end, it was the defense that broke the back of the team from London. 59 goals conceded in 36 games was simply too many. Tottenham have now gone eleven games without a clean sheet in the Premier League.

At the same time, they have scored in nine of their last ten competitive games, an attractive statistic for the goal I expect both teams to score on Friday night. In addition, the hosts can rely on the entire offense except for James Maddison.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, will be without Manchester loanee Marcus Rashford, and Jacob Ramsey will have to sit out another league game due to a yellow/red suspension.

In terms of goals scored, Tottenham are among the top teams, and after Brentford, the club also has the second-best chance conversion rate.

When it comes to the number of goals conceded, however, it is not surprising that Spurs are also high up in the “chances conceded” category. Aston Villa are in the midfield region in both tables.

AVFV have only lost one game at home in the entire season. The feat has otherwise only been achieved by champions Liverpool.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have won just five of their 18 away matches, losing eleven times. Only relegated Leicester and Southampton have conceded more defeats on their travels.

The meagre 1.10 for the “double chance 1X” is almost not worth writing a single line about.

It looks different if we mix the “1X” with the goal of both teams, with this combination we can push the overall odds to 1.75.

In the two meetings this season, both teams have already scored. Tottenham recorded a clear 4-1 win in the league, while the Birmingham outfit then got revenge in the FA Cup, where we saw a 2-1 win at Villa Park.

In terms of chances on both sides, there was a lot going on. The first leg was definitely too high in terms of the score. In recent years, both teams have scored top goals in head-to-head matches

Conclusion: Aston Villa have a fabulous home record, but face an opponent that is sure to score and wants to deliver a successful dress rehearsal before the all-important Europa League final.

The hosts, on the other hand, will be looking to punch their Champions League ticket via the league, but have had some close results and defeats of late. The home win rate is too low, the “X2” too risky.

Instead, I’m going for both teams to score, as we’re unlikely to see one-way soccer like in the first two encounters.

My Aston Villa Tottenham tip: Both teams will score!
