The Club World Cup is over – and it’s back to business as usual in Major League Soccer. In the case of Atlanta United and Charlotte, who are playing each other this weekend, the tournament didn’t play a major role anyway. As is well known, the duo didn’t even take part.
Neither team is among the best in the Eastern Conference and will have to stretch themselves to catch up. In my Atlanta Charlotte tip, I looked around Merkur Bets for strong bets on the game.
And I found what I was looking for – and now I can reveal what made me go for the combination of “BTS and over 2.5 goals”!
How did Atlanta United fare in the Club World Cup? Apart from an extended break in the MLS, the new FIFA tournament had little impact. The Eastern Conference team is fully focused on its everyday sporting activities.
They desperately need to do so, because they have won only two of their last 16 games! After three consecutive defeats, they are now at least back in a series of draws, but the third draw in a row brought only a single point.
The team is unable to bring consistency to its performances. This is also evident from a look at the exact results. They have failed to score in nine games, but when they do win, they score at least three goals.
3:2, 4:3, 4:2 and 3:2 again – the four wins this season, all of which were achieved at home, could hardly have offered any more highlights. The three home defeats were all thankfully narrow, so I can already attest to Atlanta’s home strength.
Only once in the last eleven games have they managed to go into the break with a lead, and they have conceded goals in the first half of all eleven matches. It’s wild and turbulent, and the fans are longing for a little more calm.
Incidentally, Atlanta has never recorded four consecutive identical results – i.e. win, draw or defeat – which could be interesting for you. If this remains the case, the points will not be shared this weekend.
In the first half of the season, the next opponent from Charlotte was not a happy hunting ground, as the away game was lost 0-2. All seven previous encounters have produced a winner, with Atlanta losing two of the three home games.

The visitors from Charlotte are at a slight disadvantage in terms of odds, so how will that affect the game? The North Carolina club is known for its willingness to take risks. That means they have only shared the points twice.
The team is currently on a three-game unbeaten streak. They already achieved this once in April this year – if they add a fourth game, Charlotte would set a new season record.
Charlotte has scored at least twice in seven of its last nine games. So head over to Bet365, where you can place a bet on “Over 1.5 away goals.” The odds are 2.20.

Neither Atlanta nor Charlotte are among the strongest teams in the MLS, but that’s exactly what makes this weekend’s head-to-head clash so exciting. Especially since either result is possible.
The visitors have been in turbulent form recently, but are unbeaten in their last three matches. If Atlanta wins, however, it will be at home and with an incredible amount of spectacle.
