La Liga, Saturday, 01/02/2025 at 6:30 pm
It was looking so good! Atletico Madrid had been in impressive form for months, even taking the lead at some point. Now the Colchoneros have slipped up twice and – BAM – Real were there, putting four points between themselves and their city rivals again.
On Saturday, the red-and-whites finally have to win again, so it’s a good thing that their opponent is not in form. In my Atletico Madrid Mallorca betting tip, I would like to tell you why I am choosing the defensive option here and saying: More than 2.5 goals are not likely to be scored here.
49-45-42-40? If you take a look at the Spanish top flight after 21 matchdays, you will see that Athletic Bilbao are holding their own bravely, with Real, Atletico and Barcelona ahead of them wanting to determine the title race.
Before the start of this season, everyone actually agreed that the championship would be decided between Real Madrid and Barca. Atletico was somehow on the bill, but in our La Liga master bets you quickly recognize: someone is only playing the third violin.
Atletico lost 0-1 at relegation candidates Leganes, which nobody had expected. Even worse, they then followed that up with a 1-1 draw at home to Villarreal. Two consecutive draws, that has only happened twice this season.
I already mentioned briefly that the weak phase might have been looming. How can I tell? Well, twice 1-0, once 2-1 and once 4-3, the most recent wins were all very close.
On top of that, as you may have read in our Atletico tips from time to time, Simeone’s team definitely benefits from luck in games and usually relies on the second half.
Ten goals before half-time, 25 after, you should always keep this fact in mind. Nine goals from minute 90? No question about it, Atletico only stops playing when every single professional is sitting on the team bus!
By the way, there have been no goals scored before the break in the last five games. So maybe you want to bet on the fact that the Madrileneans will go into the locker room without scoring? For example, Interwetten offers strong odds of 2.10.
As a new customer, you have a special opportunity to win twice with the Interwetten free bet. Two 1-0 wins and a 1-1 draw: the last few home appearances have not been particularly spectacular.
A good keyword, because the first leg was also won 1-0 against Mallorca – in a direct comparison, I can even see a 1-0 series three times in a row! Of course, exactly this final result could also be an option for Saturday.
If you want to take the corresponding result bet, the odds at Interwetten jump to 4.80. Eight of the last 11 meetings did not surpass the 2.5 goals that I am testing.
But if our bookmakers are right, at least the question of the winner is not. Atletico Madrid are clear favorites with odds of 1.42 to 8.25, so anything other than a win would be a surprise.
Mallorca arrive in sixth place – sounds good! At first glance, yes, but on closer inspection, it can be seen that they could drop to twelfth place in a single round, such is the closeness of the midfield.
Nine wins, three draws, nine defeats: someone is willing to take a big risk here. With 19 goals, the attack is one of the weakest in the league, scoring more than one goal only five times.
The new year, at least, got off to a less than successful start. First Mallorca lost 0-4 to Villarreal, then they lost 0-1 to Betis Sevilla. They didn’t score twice in a row, once this season I even count three games without a goal.
The problem: the third match in this series was the 0-1 defeat to Atletico! Away from home, which is definitely worth mentioning, the team has never shared the points, with five wins and five defeats.
14 goals conceded actually sound respectable, but considering that they conceded four against Villarreal last time out, I can no longer speak of strong defensive performances.
Atletico Madrid need to get back into form quickly if they are to remain realistic about the title fight! After two games without a win, the pressure is on, and before that, the victories were also quite fortunate.
Mallorca is truly not a feared opponent, and the guests have only been beaten twice. I could see in the history that many goals in this duel are rather not on the agenda.
Since Atletico is currently focusing on offensive light food anyway, my bet has set itself up with that. So it reads:
At 2.5 goals is the end!
