Austria Vienna – BW Linz Tip, Prediction & Odds 24.05.2025

Bundesliga Austria, Matchday 32, Saturday, 24.05.2025, 17:00

One title, three contenders – pure excitement in the Austrian Bundesliga! We need to get out our calculators, because with Sturm Graz, Austria Vienna, and Wolfsberg, three teams still have a chance of winning the championship.

In my Austria Vienna BW Linz preview, I am naturally focusing on the title race, because the hosts need their rivals to slip up. I’ll say it now: they will do their homework and win by a maximum of four goals.

The situation in the Austrian Bundesliga is something to savor: three teams still have a chance at the title! Austria Vienna is one of them, but could have been in a better position.

Three narrow wins in the last eight games is simply not enough. But first, let’s take a quick look at the table. Sturm Graz is at the top with 39 points, followed by Vienna and Wolfsberg with 36 points each.

As we all know, if two teams are tied on points, the head-to-head record counts. Austria is fortunate to have performed wonderfully in its matches against its rivals. So it’s clear: they have to win and Graz has to lose.

The key point is that the league leaders have a match against Wolfsberg ahead of them – and here Vienna again has the upper hand in the head-to-head record. So it’s quite simple: a win for themselves and one for WAC, and the championship is theirs.

Last Sunday, the Violets won the duel against Wolfsberg 2-1, an immensely important victory. I find it interesting that the team from the capital has only scored three goals four times this season – never more than that.

There have been three home defeats in 2024/25, two against RB Salzburg and one in the derby against Rapid. I also note that a 0-0 draw against Wolfsberg is the only home result without a goal.

During the championship round, Austria has not yet managed to go into the break with a half-time lead. The team has also failed to score in the first 45 minutes in four games.

If the players go into Saturday’s important match too nervous and fail to score in the first half, you can benefit from odds of 2.50 if you bet on exactly that outcome at Winamax.

Blau-Weiß Linz is generally a grateful opponent. The two clubs have only been playing each other since 2023, so seven games have been played. The Viennese have won four of them, with one draw.

Perhaps I should mention Andreas Gruber separately, because the offensive player has scored four times in this matchup. Accordingly, a goal bet could be worthwhile here, with odds of 2.75 at Bet365.

Speaking of odds, there is no doubt that the hosts are favorites going into their last game of the season. An average of 1.35 meets 7.80, so everything points to a landslide victory.

Blau-Weiß Linz is bottom of the championship group and will remain there. They have lost seven of their nine playoff games, and the five goals they have scored in that time are not exactly something to write home about.

With just three away wins in the entire season, I wouldn’t exactly say that Linz feels particularly comfortable on the road. The team has also failed to score in its last three away games.

One goal in the last eight away games in the first half? It’s no wonder that the odds for the bet “Linz will not score in the first 45 minutes” are only 1.33 at Winamax.

To the team’s credit, they have never conceded more than two goals in the championship round – but then again, Austria Vienna are almost always content with a maximum of two goals.

Showdown in Austria, because there can only be one champion! The starting position for Austria Vienna is clear: they have to win, and Wolfsberg has to do the same against Sturm Graz. They can’t climb to the top on their own.

Blau-Weiß Linz, the easiest opponent in the championship round, comes up last. The visitors are not in good shape, especially in attack, where they lack quality and ideas. At the same time, however, Austria is not too strong in attack either.

Accordingly, I have decided to bet on the expected home win. On the other hand, I don’t think we’ll see a spectacle in the capital. So my prediction is:

Austria Vienna wins with under 4.5 goals!
