His start to the season was promising. But then Marc Bernal tore his cruciate ligament – and will miss FC Barcelona for a whole year. On Monday evening, coach Hansi Flick’s club announced that they had “adjusted” the contract with the 17-year-old, which runs until the summer of 2026. The contract had only been extended at the end of July and now includes an option for a further three years, i.e. until 2029. The exit clause stipulated in Spain is 500 million euros
