According to “The Athletic”, midfielder Frenkie de Jong and FC Barcelona are negotiating an extension to the 27-year-old’s contract. The Dutchman, who has been playing in Barcelona since 2019, still has a contract with the Catalans until the summer of 2026, but they do not want to start the new season with a player who is tied to the club for less than a year. At the beginning of 2024, Barcelona had reportedly already made de Jong an offer, but had not received a response. Now, both sides are saying that negotiations are taking place – also because the national player feels very comfortable in Barcelona.
