Months ago, there were already indications that Frenkie de Jong would be extending his contract with FC Barcelona, and now things are apparently moving forward. According to Barca sporting director Deco, both parties are in “final negotiations” and the deal should be finalized soon. “Frenkie has reorganized his advisors, and we waited until that was settled. It had nothing to do with money,” Deco explained the delays. The 28-year-old midfielder’s current contract expires in 2026. In the current season, he has been in the starting lineup for five of his six league appearances for the Catalans and has also been a regular in the Champions League.
