Swiss Cup, Final, Sunday, 01.06.2025 at 14:00
The cup final in Switzerland is coming up. FC Basel, 13-time winner and Super League champion, faces a surprising opponent in FC Biel. The third division team is in the final for the first time since 1961.
However, they don’t have much chance of winning the title. On the contrary, I expect to see a clear difference on the pitch from the first minute onwards, so I’m going for a half-time/full-time bet on Biel Basel, which gives odds of 1.58 on the betting slip with manual selections.
I have combined the first half and 90-minute outcome bets at Bet-at-home.
After some difficult years in sporting terms, Basel has had a really good season and secured its 21st championship title with a comfortable ten-point lead over Servette Geneva, leaving it just six points behind record winners Grasshopper Club Zurich.
Incidentally, they also hold the record for the most cup wins. Basel is aiming for its 14th on Sunday. The men in blue and red last lifted the trophy in 2018/19. Everything points to them finally doing it again this season.
At odds of 1.04, we can bet that Basel will take home the cup, while Biel has 8.00 in the cup question and even 12.5 in the 1X2 odds after 90 minutes. Basel has a narrow 1.16 here.
At the time of writing, no Winamax user has yet opted for an underdog victory or a draw. Basel has “100 percent” of the vote, which shows how popular the individual betting options are.
It’s also worth registering with Winamax because of the first-class new customer bonus. Your first deposit will be doubled up to $100 in free bets. Winnings can be withdrawn immediately without any wagering requirements. What’s more, all bets are tax-free.
Basel already had a six-point lead in the league before the championship round and continued its dominance in the last five games, winning four and scoring a whopping 19 goals. A total of 30 goals were scored in the last five games.
Only in the meaningless defeat against Young Boys Bern (2-6), when Basel had already secured the title, did things go completely wrong, but even then they managed to score two goals.
The offense is in top form, which is precisely why I am optimistic that they will score against a deep-lying opponent like Biel – and early on. In the last seven league games alone, Basel has always scored in the first 45 minutes.
Only against Lausanne in the cup semi-final (3-2) did they have to wait until later in the game to find the back of the net. Basel has had its struggles in the individual cup rounds, with a penalty shootout against Sion and a 1-0 win against Nyon in September.
Given their current form, I definitely expect more. Especially since they are now facing a third-division team that is clearly outclassed in terms of squad value alone. They have a squad worth 2.33 million euros, compared to a 66 million euro squad. And then there are the disappointing results in the final stretch.
The 1947 Swiss champions squandered promotion to the second division with two defeats shortly before the end of the season. Rapperswil-Jona managed to overtake them with a flawless final sprint, as did Kriens. Incidentally, 1896 suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Basel’s second string!
If even the Super League champions’ U21 team wins convincingly, I am even more optimistic that the first team will succeed. Incidentally, the U21s took the lead in the first half, so the half-time/full-time option would have been a smart choice here.
I definitely don’t expect a low-scoring affair on Sunday. However, we’re not getting the most lucrative odds in the over goals segment, with just 1.35 at Oddset and Co. for over 2.5 goals. For over 3.5, we’re talking 1.90.
If you combine Basel’s win with over 2.5 goals, you’ll get a nice 1.50. Alternatively, I can suggest you check out my Formula 1 tip to find a suitable odds to combine. The Spanish Grand Prix starts an hour after the cup final.
Basel finished the season as the clear best offense with 91 goals. In addition to scoring the most goals, the FC also tested the opposing keepers most often with 236 shots on goal.
The defense, on the other hand, only managed mid-table figures, which is not surprising given the offensive style of play. The champions have only kept a clean sheet in one of their last seven games, and Biel has scored in six of its last seven matches.
Therefore, the goal for both teams in the range of 1.94 is a nice alternative. Anyone who adds a Basel win here can look forward to odds of 2.55. That would be just the thing for the Winamax free bet credit. Incidentally, Basel has a wealth of offensive talent to draw on!
Conclusion: Basel has its entire attacking lineup available and has scored the most goals of any Super League opponent this season, nearly breaking the 100-goal mark. Biel recently lost two games and squandered its chance at promotion.
Among others, they lost to Basel’s U21 team, who won 3-0 and were already leading at half-time. I expect an even bigger difference in performance now with the first team on the pitch. That’s why I’m going with the following odds for the Swiss Cup final.
Important at Bet-at-home: Add the win after 90 minutes and at half-time manually to your betting slip, then you’ll get the 1.58 odds!
