Jonathan Burkardt will finish the current season with 1. FSV Mainz 05. “A winter transfer is not an option,” said the striker after the 2-0 win against Bochum, in which he scored both goals for Mainz. There had been rumors about Burkardt in recent weeks, including a possible transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt. The 24-year-old has now put an end to the speculation: “I’m fully concentrating on what we’re doing here right now. It’s great fun.” Burkardt has been playing in Mainz since 2014, where his current contract runs until 2027. In the current season, he has already scored twelve goals in 15 Bundesliga games.
