Borussia Dortmund have been working in the background for some time on an early contract extension with Nico Schlotterbeck, whose contract expires in the summer of 2027. The negotiations were already largely advanced under Sebastian Kehl, predecessor of the new BVB sporting director Ole Book. There is a paper on the table that includes an extension including a salary adjustment as well as exit options. But nothing has been signed yet, even if the signals from the Schlotterbeck side have recently made Dortmund’s bosses cautiously optimistic. The 26-year-old central defender should also have registered the fresh spirit in the club through the signing of Book with great interest.
