BVB summer schedule: friendly matches & dates for 2025
Training starts on June 2
With the club’s participation in the first major Club World Cup, which will take place from June 14 to July 14 in the USA, the dates on the BVB summer schedule for 2025 will also change compared to previous years.
Borussia Dortmund will start training on June 2 – just two weeks after the last Bundesliga match.
However, the first date on the BVB summer schedule for 2025 does not affect everyone. Many players will be on international duty with their national teams. This is because the Nations League Final Four and qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup will take place in June.
BVB summer schedule for 2025 with the Club World Cup
Borussia Dortmund will travel to the United States on June 13 for the Club World Cup – to Florida, to be precise. The team will be based at Inter Miami’s club grounds.
Three dates on the BVB summer schedule have been confirmed – namely the three matches in Club World Cup Group F.
The Black and Yellows will kick off the Club World Cup against Fluminense (June 17, 6 p.m. CEST) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Dortmund will then face Mamelodi Sundowns (June 21, 6 p.m. CEST) and Ulsan (June 25, 9 p.m. CEST). Both matches will take place at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Assuming that BVB survives the preliminary round of the Club World Cup, they will either continue on June 30 (second in Group F) or July 1 as first in Group F. Dortmund would then have a quarter-final on July 4 or 5.

BVB Summer schedule for 2025: What’s next
Both the date of the return trip from the US and the start of preparations for the 2025/26 season depend on the team’s performance in the rest of the Club World Cup.
Therefore, there are no dates for any BVB friendly matches in Borussia Dortmund’s 2025 summer schedule yet. The names of possible opponents are also not yet available.
Last year, there were six friendly matches scheduled. This number will certainly not be reached this summer due to the Club World Cup.
However, the training camp is already scheduled in the BVB summer schedule for 2025. It will take place from August 4 to 9 in Saalfelden, Austria. At least one friendly match will probably take place there. However, it is not yet clear who the opponent will be.
Back in Dortmund, BVB will celebrate the traditional start of the season at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK on August 10. The opponent for the friendly match, which will take place as part of this event, is also yet to be confirmed. Information on ticket sales will follow.
BVB Dates: When are the first competitive matches?
The first competitive match of the new season will take place in mid-August. The first round of the DFB Cup will be played on the weekend of August 15-18, 2025. Borussia Dortmund will face RW Essen away from home. The date and time are yet to be confirmed.
The Bundesliga season kicks off a week later (August 22-24). BVB’s fixture for the first matchday has not yet been confirmed.
