Dortmund summer schedule 2025: What happens after the Club World Cup?
After being knocked out in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Club World Cup, Borussia Dortmund immediately returned home. The professionals have been granted a three-week vacation.
The date is listed on the BVB summer schedule for 2025 as July 28. On this day, BVB will kick off training for 2025 with their first session on the pitch.
The mandatory performance tests will take place two days earlier, on July 26 and 27.
The BVB test matches for the 2025 summer preparation
When the Dortmund players return from their holidays, the first date on the BVB summer schedule for 2025 is already set. The first of a total of three BVB test matches in 2025 will take place on July 30.
The first BVB preparatory game will take place on July 30 at 6:30 p.m. against Sportfreunde Siegen. The next BVB test match will follow two days later – and the task will be much more difficult. On August 2, Dortmund will face OSC Lille (5:00 p.m.).
On August 4, the team will head to a short training camp in Saalfelden, Austria. Training will continue there until August 9. It is still unclear whether another preparatory match will be scheduled during the training camp. Currently, there is no information about one or more preparatory matches.
On the other hand, the Club World Cup was a kind of “preparatory tournament” anyway, so a few intensive training sessions are likely to be more important for coach Niko Kovac for the time being.
The third of BVB’s friendly matches in this preseason will take place on August 10 as part of the big season opener. Juventus Turin will be the visiting team. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m.

That’s the day the season kicks off, and as usual, there will be a BVB test match against a prominent opponent. This year, Dortmund will play Juventus Turin (August 10, 5:30 p.m.).
Borussia Dortmund dates: When are the first competitive games?
The first competitive game of the new season will take place in mid-August. The first round of the DFB Cup will be played on the weekend of August 15-18, 2025. Borussia will face RW Essen away on Monday, August 18 (8:45 p.m.).
The Bundesliga season kicks off a week later (August 22–24). The Black and Yellows will face St. Pauli away on August 23 (6:30 p.m.).
