In the summer, rumors swirled about Jonas Meffert’s departure from HSV, with former coach Tim Walter and Hull City in particular courting the 30-year-old captain. However, the midfielder decided to stay with the Red Shorts – and has now extended his expiring contract beyond next summer. Born in Cologne, he came to Hamburg in the summer of 2021 and has since played 113 competitive matches for HSV.
