When is the draw for the new Champions League phase? A question that many football fans have been asking themselves since the start of the Champions League qualifying play-offs at the latest.
The 2024 Champions League draw will take place today, Thursday, August 29 in Monaco. The venue for the event is the Grimaldi Forum.
The draw will begin at 18:00. The draw is expected to last around one hour. Tomorrow Friday, August 30 from 13:00, the draw for the Europa League phase will take place

Several channels are broadcasting the 2024 Champions League draw for the new league phase live today.
DAZN: The sports streaming service DAZN once again has the broadcasting rights for the majority of the Champions League matches for the 2024/25 season.
DAZN will therefore also be showing the 2024 Champions League draw, with the live broadcast starting shortly before 18:00 today.
Sky Sport News: Sky will be showing the 2024 Champions League draw for the league phase live on TV and via stream today. The live broadcast starts at 17:30, with Kai Dittmann as commentator.

What’s new about the Champions League draw for the league phase?
Instead of a group stage with eight groups of four teams each, all 36 clubs will start in a joint league phase next season.
Another change is that instead of three opponents with a first and second leg, eight different teams will play each other – with four games at home and four games away.
This change will of course also be reflected in the 2024 Champions League draw.
The pots for the 2024 Champions League draw will be divided according to the UEFA coefficient, which divides the 36 teams into four pots of nine teams each. Each club is allocated two opponents from each pot.
Although there is no provision for clubs from the same country to play each other, exceptions are possible if the respective nation has four or more clubs (such as Germany with five teams).
Each participating club is drawn once by hand, after which a special software program is used to randomly determine the remaining opponents from the individual pots and who they will play at home and who they will play away.

The possible opponents of Bayern Munich
Bayern may not be in this year’s 2024 Champions League draw as German champions, but they are still one of the top teams in Europe in the first draw pot. This results in the following scenarios for the CL League phase draw.

Champions League draw 2024: Who will BVB face?

In theory, Bayer Leverkusen could face only champion teams in the new league phase after the Champions League draw.
