Following CFR Cluj’s 2-7 defeat at BK Häcken in the first leg of the Conference League play-offs, coach Dan Petrescu drew conclusions from his team’s humiliation. Shortly after the final whistle, the former Premier League player (215 appearances for Chelsea, among others) announced his resignation and confirmed it again at the subsequent press conference. The 57-year-old had started his fourth spell with the Romanians in April 2024, but it ended in utter disaster.
