NFL 2024/25: Commanders – Falcons
My Commanders Falcons prediction concerns one of the very few games in Week 17 in which both sides still have a chance of making the 2024 NFL playoffs.
I expect Jayden Daniels to have an extremely good day. His rushing performance has improved tremendously in recent weeks and is reminiscent of the early part of the season. My prediction? He’ll score another touchdown on Monday!
It’s an exciting duel in the capital when the Commanders, as 4-point favorites, face the Falcons. Both teams are still fighting for the playoffs and are each sending rookie quarterbacks into the race.
For you as football fans, there are several interesting facts about this. For example, did you know that this is the first time that two first-round rookies have started in a prime-time game in the US time zone?
In any case, Jayden Daniels and Michael Penix Jr. are two young playmakers who are the future. Daniels in particular has been on fire lately, thanks in no small part to his inimitable footwork.
Daniels had an impressive running game at the beginning of the season, averaging 60 yards per game over the first five weeks. A rib injury then slowed him down, but after the bye week in week 14, he seems to be back to full strength.
In the last two games, he has rushed for 81 and 66 yards on 20 carries. No other quarterback has more rushing yards this season, and his rate of designed runs is also top-notch.
Add to that the weather report: heavy rain is expected on Sunday evening, which could limit the passing options and give Daniels more opportunities to run the ball. Especially against the Falcons, whose pass rush is virtually non-existent.
The difficult weather conditions that are expected could also affect the guests from Atlanta. As an indoor team, they are likely to have problems with the cold and rain.
Daniels, on the other hand, seems to have the perfect answer to these challenges: his versatility makes him difficult for the Falcons’ defense to predict.
In view of the weather, his current form and the weaknesses of the opponent, a bet on his rushing yards is a good idea. And if you’re looking for a combo bet, you can also include a rushing touchdown by Daniels.
With the playoffs on the horizon, Washington will be out for the win no matter what – and the rookie QB could be the key.
As for the game outcome, I would tend to side more with the Commanders, even if the win rate of WAS of about 1.50 certainly doesn’t make me jump for joy.
As for the expected number of points, I wouldn’t expect too many points. The rain will keep the ball low and “under 50.5 points” at odds of around 1.53 is certainly not a bad deal for me that the bookmakers are offering us.
Speaking of bookmakers: betting providers that accept PayPal offer you fast, secure and easy deposits and withdrawals – perfect for NFL betting! Your money is safe thanks to buyer protection and encryption.
PayPal also allows spontaneous bets right before the game starts, as transactions are processed immediately. With the clear betting app of many bookies, you can easily have your winnings paid out at any time.
Conclusion: Looking ahead to Super Bowl 2024, neither franchise should play too big a role.
However, there are several reasons that speak for Washington in a direct duel. Starting with the motivating win against the Eagles from the previous week, when the Commanders pulled off an outstanding comeback.
Daniels’ explosiveness in the pocket, the injuries at the Falcons and even the difficult weather are further factors that also make me lean towards the host.
My Commanders Falcons tip: Jayden Daniels with touchdown.
