Kopenhagen – Dortmund Prediction Champions League, Matchday 3 on Tuesday, 10/21/2025 at 9:00 p.m.
After the thriller at Munich’s Allianz Arena – and the first competitive defeat of the season – it’s time for the next challenge in the Champions League! While the skepticism ahead of BVB’s recent Bundesliga performance was not without reason, the Westphalians are a real force to be reckoned with in the premier class.
Although Bayer Leverkusen, the 2024 German champions, struggled to avoid defeat in the Danish capital in their Champions League opener, the best betting providers do not consider a Westphalia victory at the same venue to be too much of a stretch.
In my Copenhagen vs. Dortmund prediction, I do see the Black and Yellows having their work cut out for them, but given the attractive odds, I have nevertheless logged an away win in the Interwetten app.
With their somewhat shocking defeat in Qarabag, the Danes did not exactly recommend themselves for higher royal honors on the last matchday. But once again, the devil is in the details.
FC Copenhagen’s fame, albeit modest, is primarily due to its home strength at Parken, where it has suffered just two defeats in its last 19 European appearances.
Across all competitions, FCK are still unbeaten at home in the current calendar year, but that doesn’t stop me from believing that Niko Kovac’s team are capable of achieving a first.
As is well known, they have been performing reliably in the Champions League for some time now. It was no coincidence that only a few seconds (and a touch of cleverness) were missing from a tangible victory in their last away game in Turin.
Kopenhagen – Dortmund Prediction & Betting
In this case, I see a particularly promising Copenhagen BVB tip as a goal scorer bet, which of course can only revolve around a goal from Serhou Guirassy.
Although his goal frequency has seemed to decline somewhat recently, he has almost always been reliable in the Champions League, which is why the stake can be doubled with a bit of luck if successful.
While I’m on the subject of goals, I might as well add over 1.5 goals for Borussia Dortmund to my betting slip – here too, with odds of around 1.90, I’m bravely scratching at the possibility of doubling my stake.
And since I’m already siding with the Bundesliga club in my Copenhagen Dortmund prediction, my final recommendation is also for an away win.
The combination of a BVB win and both teams scoring at strong odds of 3.60 takes into account the fact that the Westphalians’ attacking style has already led to them conceding goals in their first two games.
What you need to consider when betting on Copenhagen vs. Dortmund
- Copenhagen has averaged 2.38 xG (expected goals) per 90 minutes in their domestic league this season, in addition to the 2.87 xG they have scored in the Champions League. The Danish champions have already scored twice against a Bundesliga rival on the first matchday, drawing 2-2 with Bayer Leverkusen.
- Only Barcelona (28) scored more goals than Borussia Dortmund (22) in the group stage of the last UEFA Champions League.
- Only Barcelona (28) scored more goals than Borussia Dortmund (22) in the group stage of the last UEFA Champions League.
- Serhou Guirassy is the only player you can bet on at odds of less than 2.00 to score at any point in the Copenhagen vs. Dortmund game. The Guinean striker has already scored five goals in seven Bundesliga and Champions League games this season.
- Of all players who played more than 5.0 90 minutes in the UEFA Champions League last season, Serhou Guirassy scored the most goals per 90 minutes (1.08) with 13 goals.
Kopenhagen – Dortmund: AI tip & odds analysis
Although I’ve had some pretty heated battles with artificial intelligence lately, this time the Copenhagen Dortmund AI tips clearly catch me on my gentle foot.
In principle, our in-house artificial brain is taking a very similar approach – which is already reflected in the first recommendation, according to which both teams will score a goal.
Looking at the Westphalians’ current goal difference after just two match days, the odds of around 1.65 offered for BTS are extremely exciting.
Our AI also seems to be taking comparatively little risk with the Copenhagen BVB prediction that at least three goals will be scored at Parken.
In view of the reduced risk, however, you have to be satisfied with odds of just under 1.80 for over 2.5 goals. Here, too, my conclusion is that the odds could have been much worse.
While the focus so far has been almost exclusively on lots of goals, the AI result prediction is almost cautious. The expected 2-1 win for BVB is quoted at around 7.50.
The best odds for Copenhagen vs. Dortmund
A look at the Copenhagen Dortmund odds once again makes it clear that a bet on an away win actually has value.
After all, the Westphalians’ chances of success are estimated at well over 50 percent – and yet, if the widely expected result occurs, the bet will pay out almost exactly double the stake.
In contrast, there are only slight differences in the odds between a draw and a home win – perhaps because both results are considered unlikely by the bookies.
Fans of draws can expect odds of at least 3.60 for a draw, while a win will bring odds of around 3.90 at the best bookmakers.
Kopenhagen vs. Dortmund match analysis:
Copenhagen has only picked up one point in its two group stage games. A defeat here would make it very difficult for the Danes to qualify for the knockout stage playoffs. Dortmund, on the other hand, has four points but will regret dropping points against Juventus.
Since switching to a 3-4-3 formation after a defeat to Leipzig in March, Dortmund has been a force to be reckoned with. The team is very offensive and has averaged 2.57 goals per game since then (before the 1-2 defeat to Bayern at the weekend).
However, Kovac’s team has conceded a lot of goals in European competitions, so this should be an entertaining game.
Copenhagen dominates its domestic league and is used to having the majority of possession. However, this is not the case in the Champions League.
The team had only 36% possession in their last European home game against Leverkusen, and it is likely to be similar here.
Although Jacob Neestrup’s team had very little possession in that game, they were deadly on the counterattack, creating three big chances and finishing the game with a higher xG than their opponents. Copenhagen will try to use quick counterattacks against Dortmund again.
FC Kopenhagen form check
Copenhagen’s Champions League season has been mixed so far, with the Danish champions picking up just one point from their first two games.
In their home game against Leverkusen on the first matchday, Copenhagen took the lead twice but ultimately had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
The subsequent 2-0 defeat to Qarabağ in Baku highlighted the team’s weakness in away games, as Copenhagen failed to capitalize on their chances, especially from set pieces.
However, Jacob Neestrup’s team has a solid home record, losing only two of its last 19 group games at Parken Stadium.
Nevertheless, its historical record against German opponents, with only one win in 17 encounters, gives little cause for optimism.
With former Dortmund player Thomas Delaney in their ranks and Youssoufa Moukoko, who joined from Dortmund in the summer, Copenhagen will be hoping for a combative performance against the Black and Yellows.
Dortmund form check
Borussia Dortmund has made a flying start to the Champions League, picking up four points from its first two games.
After a 4-4 draw with Juventus Turin, the visitors scored four goals again in their victory over Athletic Bilbao. This is the first time since the 2014/15 season that they have scored four goals in two consecutive Champions League games.
Striker Serhou Guirassy played a decisive role, scoring 16 goals in his first 20 Champions League games, a tally surpassed only by Erling Haaland’s record.
As Dortmund prepares for its match against Copenhagen, its positive start to the season suggests that the team is well equipped to go far in this competition.
However, questions remain about the consistency of the defense and whether this upswing represents real progress or just a temporary improvement. Despite these uncertainties, BVB remain the clear favorites in Denmark.
