SV Darmstadt wants to exercise the purchase option for the loaned midfielder Hiroki Akiyama (25). “There is no reason at all not to take the option,” sporting director Paul Fernie told kicker. “It’s not a question of whether we’ll do it, it’s just a matter of time.” Akiyama came on loan from Japanese first division club Albirex Niigata in the summer and immediately became a permanent fixture.
